notafanboy, 26 Feb 2020fast? Yeah. Cameras? Mediocre. No headphone jack either. So... moreCameras may be decent, but it's still better than the S10 series running on Exynos SoC (the camera image quality is poor thanks to bad image processing) and you know the price of the handset. It's also better than the iPhone XR as well.

Considering the average user's choice, performance-to-price ratio from powerful gaming, video streaming, etc., I can respectively understand GSMA's decision.

Congratulation to OnePlus. The other finalists in this competition are: iPhone 11 Pro, P30 Pro, Samsung Galaxy Fold.

GSMA smartphone award 2019: Mate 20 Pro.
GSMA smartphone award 2018: iphone X.

A phone with weak cameras and battery (according to flagship standards) can't get phone of the year

                            Weak!
IMO Note 10/s10 series takes this one.
Mate 30 pro should have been the phone of the year if not for Huawei locking the bootloader and no worldwide launch or GMS out of the box.

Yeap its amazing , use dozens of phones at work and this is easily one of the best.

Yeah well I don't think 730 euro for a flagship is exactly accesible. The Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro costs 450 (sometimes less) and can do almost everything the 7T Pro can. Oh, did I say it has a headphone jack?

I agree, it is the best of 2019 for me.

                                      Kinda saw this coming

GSMArena talking about the GSMA is always confusing
