Glad you've started relinking this article in the current reviews at least. It got completely lost in the noise of reviews & news pieces so it's quite natural (IMO) that people began to wonder what happened. Thank you for this.

Actually I have been at loss and lost because of you renegaded the volume specs. Phone makers just don't advertise how much DBs their phone's volume output has. As a hard of hearing person and along with many others, buying a phone without knowing how loud the phone is, is a major obstacle toward a suitable purchase. I used your website for every phone i bought and i relied on the information in order to buy the phones that i knew will be able to cater to my needs. unfortunately now i have no resource to rely on...

you were the only one that reviewed the sound thoroughly. the jack part was essential

Honestly speaking, i have been seeking information from GSM arena for Years. Primarily to know the complete specs and 3.5 mm jack Audio output quality. All the best sounding phones that i have even today, i bought after reading the reviews of GSM arena. undoubtedly Your reviews had been honest and professionally the best. Still in my stock i hold HTC/ LG V series, Now i have an unmatch-able King of music ROG 2, The one and only super star from Asus in the entire smartphone industry. I am an audiophile with a huge Lib of Gadgets. My heart is truly broken dear GSM....Please add audio jack test along-with the speaker test. Please do it. I know You are the only reliable professional at least for the music lovers like me.

Bad decision. Only the camera tests are original and useful now. Rest of the reviews is just monotone spec listing and then at the end there's a concolusion that max 3/stars because a Chinese brand offers better specs.

GSM arena dragged me a lot ago beacuse audio tests. Audio tests was my first thing that decide od phone od ok or not. I think im not alone. Please dont give this up.

Without the audio jack test your reviews are literally worth jack sh**. Best to use notebookcheck reviews from now on.

This decision literally makes no sense, unless you were paid to stop doing that.

For me the 3,5mm audio section was the entire point of reading your reviews. The rest can mostly be deduced from the specs (battery size and chipset are known specs and once you read one review of a certain chipset, the rest are mostly the same), but no real data is usually given on audio dacs, so there is nothing to go on without measurements. If you dicontinue the 3,5mm part of the review, I have no other needs to read your reviews. So do please reconsider testing the 3,5mm audio jack (without the 3,5mm there's less need for testing, maybe only with a passive dongle to show internal dac ability).

Mostly i used to jump directly on audio quality test..... You were the one whom i relied to whenever i bought any phone..
my HTC one, lg v20, Lenovo vibe x3, mi note 5 Pro.g v30, rog 2... All came after reading ur audio reviews.....
If u guys doubt bring it back then I'll have to look somewhere else... At least do only for phone which have 3.5 mm jack...

I've never bought a phone without 3.5 mm jack and will never buy one until and unless there is no phone left with Jack....

Please, bring us back headphones quality test.
They are NOT indistinguishable from each other.
I actually read the reviews on gsmarena website (instead of only yt reviews) just for those graphs.

What a terrible idea it is to remove the 3.5mm audio test, just like it was a terrible idea for manufacturers to remove the 3.5mm jack. You should still test the output on phones that still have 3.5mm plugs. Many of them like SONY still have low volume output. Now you don't test them anymore we have no way of knowing. LAME.

In my opinion it's a really bad idea to remove the headphones test. It was one of the tests I'm really interested in, after camera and display. And I disagree that the phones are getting better at this matter, I'm still seeing lots of phones that don't nail the headphone test. Not to mention that gsmarena is one of the last sites that offered this test; sure one might find some audiophile sites that tests some Samsungs or iPhones or LGs but where can you find tests for Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and many others?
Bottom line is lots of readers rely on the headphones test, so please re-insert it.
                        Thanks!

Yes, finally we can have a real benchmark for audio, other than the sponsored DXOMARK

A passive 3.5mm adapter tests the DAC inside the device so why remove such test?
Also for those who prefer Bluetooth do you even know which codec your headphones / receiver supports? Probably SBC or AAC. Only LDAC or LHDC are good enough, high res capable and certified by the Japan Audio Society.

For gaming you need to upgrade phones every 2-3 years and still after playing for so many hours its nearly impossible to be at top position and finally you end up making friends in every game in chats. That seems non-sense stuff to me. So i shifted to multimedia stuff watching videos and listening to songs and loved to click pics too so started searching for a phone which can handle a full hd screen generally with good display, sound and cameras in budget segment. But soon came to know that if you want all these things have to spend at least 30k inr in india (ok now 22k for a last gen flagship device). So waited for phone prices to drop and finally bought moto g6 plus just 6 months back for 9k inr (which was originally priced at 23k) just before the launch of g8 plus. Great color accuracy, decent camera and awesome sound through speakers and earphones. Thank you so much gsmarena for those detailed reviews. G6 plus sound through earphones is so loud and clear it seems you have actually plugged headphones. For 9k a phone is offering like 30k or above 50k sound or even better. I used to think Gsmarena should include multimedia phones section in buyers guide which has good color accurate display loud and clear sound through speaker/headphones/earphones and nice cameras. But its a major disappointment as a top site Gsmarena instead of improving is deteriorating itself by discontinuing the wired audio output test. The amazing part of gsmarena is it gives major ideas to readers to get best/desired phones in budget segment too. There is no other site which gave such a detailed review on sound quality. Really sad to know this. Hope the site continues wired audio output test in future because it can save peoples money on costly bluetooth earphones/headphones.

Music lovers never consider having a phone without 3.5 mm headphone jack. To them this is not just an add-on but a necessity.

The audio jack 3.5 is just big ugly hole on phone this days, i never use it, because i got two pair of Bluetooth earbuds the samsung and philips and tha sound is clear and exelent, also on my car i connect with Bluetooth my phone, to watch movies and play music, and i don't see any difference from that playing from CD, Bluetooth or FM radio.

One more thing, those phones which don't have 3.5mm jack, feel free to skip audio test.
Audiophiles or even enthusiasts, won't get that phone anyways, not even for a rainy day.

For phones which have the jack, please consider.

The decision to remove 3.5mm jack tests is WRONG! Plain and Simple. With all due respect, the logic is flawed.

They said, we can't detect the output outside test conditions. Well, let me tell you, you can.
I have a Redmi 2 Prime, which I've been trying to change, but can't, due to its low weight, size and excellent audio output.
I tested a Redmi Note 7 Pro's 3.5mm output recently (skipped by GSMArena) and I can bet you it had more distortions in the Korean Pop track, that I listen to all the time.
Everything else was same, the test track, the earphones, everything.
Even Redmi Note 6 Pro was the same story. Just not enough fun at 3.5mm earphones.

In fact, I'm suspecting some industrial pressure on GSMArena for this decision. Recently, even many flagships have given mediocre results in audio, specially headphones!

Plus, headphones, agreed that its a big factor, but good headphones can't rule out a weak audio DAC setup.
Can anyone challenge that? Give me Sennheiser heads on a weak DAC, can the end result be any good?

Please return the 3.5mm jack test.
