05 March 2020
The G7 had a 1080p screen, however the G8 brings ultra wide and macro cameras, plus a faster chipset.

Probably a nice and economical model, but seems a bit underwhelming, especially compared to some other phones like Xiaomi Redmi Note 8, Realme 5 Pro etc...

Screen area is close to 6.1" 16:9.
            Too low res.
            Also previous generations were FHD.

CompactPhones5ever, 05 Mar 2020720p screen can be acceptable if the screen is like 4.7" or... moreI completely agree. Also, I am just wondering when we are going to get a more "complete" phone from Motorola. There is always something lacking: screen resolution, ultrawide camera for photos (not videos only), 48MP camera... The best one they released lately was One Action, of course considering its affordable price. Come on Motorola...

walkman8, 05 Mar 2020HD in 2020? Unacceptable. My, oh my...720p screen can be acceptable if the screen is like 4.7" or smaller. It's the combination of 720p with giantic 6.4" display which turns into a disaster. The pixel density is straight out of year 2007.

Anyway, as it's been with this Moto series, nobody who's at least little into tech would buy this over Redmi Note equivalent (RN8 in this case). basically same phones except G8 has worse display, worse cameras, slower charging, higher price tag and missing on some features like infrared or dedicated sd slot. It's apprently aimed at people who choose by looks.

I guess there maybe people who dont mind this configuration but this is a major pass for me. Waiting for the Redmi Note 9 pro announcement. Hopefully that wont disappoint.

1080p and 1440p panels were introduced long time ago and same story applies for displays.
