Their most powerful phone, the Nokia 9 Pureview, is literally using a 2 generation old chipset. And despite it having 5 cameras it can't even beat their already terrible camera phone, the Nokia 7.2, in dxomark. The last time they had a solid phone on the market was almost 7 years ago, the Nokia Lumia 1520. Now that was one hell of a nice phone. Oh how far they've fallen.

You think China didnt try to steal our data? How about you ask people who do business with them? A couple years ago, there's a news in NatGeo magazine, those people are really trying hard to steal data, they often giving electronic/gadget gifts/presents to westerners in many occasions, they give usb flash drive, digital camera, memory card, mp3player etc.. why? that because these device are equipped with malware inside and will infect then sending data the moment they plug it into their private laptop/pc.
And remember what you said before, China doing bad to their people, you think they wont do the same thing to people outside China? this alone makes people doubt if you use common sense, if someone dare doing bad things to their own family, people will doubt whether this person wont do the same to other people.. US do bad things to other world but at least they also trying to protect their people (of course it comes with hefty cost), well its a slight better than China right?
Maybe when android tapping you, and then they gives you targeted ads.. but what if China sniffing you? Maybe if you programmer and having a project like apps/software that still under development which cost millions, then 3 months before launching somehow some Chinese company launching similar apps that because one of your coworker is using huawei phone. Dont forget, although android/apple sniffing you, but Huawei was caught sending not just your data logs but also your messages, conversations and even phone numbers inside your phonebook. Who knows what they'll be doing with your stolen data?
You can argue whatever that because you havent experienced it, being spied by China..

Well, I am not sure, EU have a LOT of negative things about data, they aren't a good example of what to do...No country is IMO.
And well fines should be based on percentage of revenues, not an arbitrarily big number, most company don't care about huge fines, some actually continuously keep paying fines because it is less expensive for them than changing and doing what the fine should prevent them to do in the first place...

Well, James Bond really doesn't need a flagship phone. He is so busy, he just needs something that can be used for high quality communication and durability. We all know Nokia is famous for that, very less call drops, excellent signal quality and rock solid durability.

Even Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible movie series have lots of BMWs in it and BMW never go broke. HMD is a big company. They can't go broke that easily, even if their handsets don't sell well. Let them advertise their phones. Even if it's not as classy as an iPhone, Samsung Galaxy S/Note, OnePlus, or Huawei P/Mate.

Because some US tech companies also steal data anyway. An iPhone also steals personal data like almost all Androids (although by a smaller margin if I suggest, as Google is not a proprietary app).
And that's the good thing of EU data regulation.
