Also, this is a Universal film, not Sony Pictures so no Xperia placement. Nokia (check HMD) had to pay pay a huge sum just to put their devices on screen.

The interesting thing about this is that the filmmakers clearly have no idea that Nokia is now a Chinese company that makes fifth-rate smartphones. It's the equivalent of having Bond drive a Hyundai Elantra.

now, i need you to please research about misdeeds of ccp backed hackers and huawei network equipment backdoors and go back to me with your conviction that china is the lesser evil.

i would give you as an example our current status here in the philippines- china has thoroughly infiltrated our system that they control not just politicians anymore but also our utility services as well as our military. they are currently in the process of controlling our internet as well as they have been allowed by corrupt politicians to set up china telecom services here. their hackers and trolls have been migrated to our own shores that it will be just a matter of a finger snap for ccp to take us over. this early, because of the proliferation of huawei network and computing devices here, an online security company have found that these devices route internet traffic to servers in china even when unnecessary.

s-pen pusher, 07 Mar 2020there is a problem with your argument right here that china... moreExcept that the collection of private data have, since a while now, being used for almost anything but targeting ads, ads is probably the least important reason for taking private data.
Raw data can be used for a lot of things, from selling them (regardless if it is for targeted ads or way less acceptable reasons) but also as a leverage to silence someone, Facebook have been caught few month ago doing both, selling data which, based on the shady agreement we accept (that by itself is already a problem since they use clever phrasing to hide how much they are actually collecting while still being untouchable if an issue take them to the court) should not have been collected in the first place, and even less shared or sold, then they simply put pressure on owners of rival companies to kill the competition and stay N°1.
Believe it or not, but Facebook is actually quite fragile, a single good alternative could completely ruin them, they literally need to do such thing to sustain, ironically this is actually the very reasons why peoples would move to another platform, to get away from the privacy issue they cause.
                                https://www.computerweekly.com/news/252473540/Lawmakers-study-leaked-Facebook-documents-made-public-today

Same thing happened for Julian Assange, and it is the actual proof that not only those data collection have clearly way further than just targeting ads, but also the proof that the USA is actually using them in a unacceptable way, it also prove that in the USA the "Freedom of speech" is actually just a facade but in practice is not really applied, making the USA collecting that much info on peoples potentially way more dangerous than China for its own citizens, but also for the rest of the world !
                                https://english.elpais.com/elpais/2019/09/25/inenglish/1569384196_652151.html

And that's the whole point, China do bad thing to its peoples, that's a fact, but they do little to peoples outside their country, the USA on the contrary actually have quite a large influence worldwide and quite often its influence is actually negative.

I am not saying that I WANT to be spied upon by China or any other country, but I certainly don't want the USA to do so, I know what data about me are available and I consider them "okay" to be taken, even though I would prefer that ONLY the data I post myself were actually to be collected, but when it come to intimate privacy that's a whole new level that I can't tolerate.

So yeah, I am pretty sure I'd prefer China to collect my data rather than the USA (who already do that), mainly considering that China would gather way less anyway, as the USA are obsessed about getting informations about everyone !
