That's why there are video tests for phones with this technology and majority of them showcase great focusing speed and accuracy as expected from Dual Pixel PDAF.
This new Omni-Directional AF is basically Dual Pixel PDAF, but is more inclined towards Quad Bayer sensors, as Dual Pixel PDAF is only for normal Bayer sensors.

How can the sensor keep up with great focusing speed and accuracy if tiny 0.8 um pixels are set as focusing agents? Even if they can, not all of them can be set that way, as it would cause overload of information, and the focus would be all over the place.
Sony A9 has amazing focusing capabilities due to its memory-stacked sensor, plus its software magic, which performs up to 20 AF/AE calculations per second, making the focus even faster and more accurate compared to normal Dual Pixel PDAF.

ODAF (Omni-Directional Auto-Focus) is clearly better than Dual-Pixel in every single scenario. Oppo's promotional video clearly demonstrates the advantage of ODAF over Dual-Pixel AF.

all those Chinese phones having great cameras has always had problems with videos...always...I dont get that...thats why I always stick to Samsung...best phone overall in every category

Dual-Pixel is excellent for photography, but it's limitations become apparent in videography. This ODAF seems to provide excellent focusing in both mediums, hence being truly impressive.

But this, added with 60 AF/AE calculations per second (like on Xperia 1 Mk II), would make up for such a focusing demon that could rival the focusing speed and accuracy of high-end digital cameras like the Sony A9.
Essentially, this is what Samsung should've done for the S20 Ultra to compensate for its relatively slow focusing times on the main camera, but it only goes to show how much more they could learn from their peer competitors. It was a good attempt, nonetheless, but definitely not the most polished thing ever.

Software has huge impact on AF.
Sony Alpha use Hybrid (PDAF + CDAF) and put to shame the Canon's Dual Pixel.
The $600 a6100 is far faster than $1800 EOS R.
Even Nikon Z6 with just Phase Detection neats EOS R.
