Still using smaller camera sensor than 1 inches

storemandan, 11 Mar 2020Now i love huawei tech i own the p20 pro but buying a new h... morebasically, yes: an overpriced camera. a relatively lower or equally cost compact camera (sony rx100 series, canon g7x series, panasonic zs..) is per total better than a smartphone, but, this is the point..., not as compact. and, mainly, they have no phone attached to them :) ....

Huawei needs to be truly congratulated for upping the ante on smartphone photography, despite all the roadblocks in its path.

I hope this can replace some top end point and shoot. Like Samsung, Huawei needs to go easy in the noise reduction.

Or alternatively, Sony, Nikon, Canon, etc. If I was so concerned with photography. Resale values of the P30 in here is a joke (reduced to 75% already). Even a GS9/iPhone 8 sells more than that.

I've Mate 30 PRO - camera is fantastic. I can't wait for P40 PRO - hard to believe it can be even better, but Huawei can do it.

If this phone had a more updated chipset, GMS, and no spyware then it would be a clear winner over the S20, iPhone 11 Pro, and some other flagships.

Unfortunately it doesn't. Kirin 990 is behind the game (uses older Cortex A76 cores and weak Mali G76 MP16 GPU), although the chipset is capable enough. Lack of GMS means that you can't run apps that need it unless you sideload it (which is not reliable and even having GMS, apps' functionality are limited). I don't care about Google apps themselves, rather the apps that need it.

And most people would have been questioned by the potential spyware that Huawei puts it. Not a deal-breaker seriously, as Google is also a spyware.

But this phone should have lots of potential, really. P30 Pro cameras (aside from video recording quality, which Apple takes the lead) is a true god. P30 Pro even smokes the S20 series in this department. Not sure of the Mate 30 Pro, as I've never tested the device and news about the phone is more scarce. Not going to buy it with lack of GMS and very poor resale value.

Now i love huawei tech i own the p20 pro but buying a new huawei phone which doesn't have google services means your just buying a new digital camera??
