Yes some people don't like Apple but it's in the same vein of people who love LG who might not like Huawei, or Apple users not liking Motorola, it's all incredibly subjective.
I have an iPhone, I'm very happy with my iPhone, I enjoy using it and I love the whole ecosystem of iTunes and being able to link to my Mac and iPad. But I wouldn't go as far to say they're the ultimate phone for x, y or z reason.

Anonymous, 13 Mar 2020Uses several iPhones in the past, never going back to limit... moreFunny cause I used Android phones exclusively (along with some Windows phones for the luls) and have found iOS to be vastly superior to Android in all aspects that actually matter when using the phone.
Third party launchers? All have at least a few bugs.
Icon packs? They never contain icons for absolutely all your apps, so they end up looking bad.
Ability to sideload apps? No thanks, I prefer vetted and thoroughly verified apps.
SD card slots? No thanks, they are slower than internal storage, they are buggy, and they pose security threats as they can be easily removed from the device. You want to encrypt them? Good luck with your slow af SD storage now.
Antivirus software? How about fixing security holes in the OS so that antivirus apps are not needed?
Getting updates for 1-2 years only, and with a big delay from the point where new OS versions are released? No thx, I want my updates fresh from the bakery.
B-b-bb-but all apps in iOS cost money! Nope, far from it. And from those that you actually need to purchase cost so little it doesn’t matter; and I much prefer paying for them and directly supporting the developers rather than being bombarded with ads ads ads ads ads everywhere.
Phone needs a weekly restart to operate at peak performance? No thx, I like to not even think about that and use something that just works all the time.
Closing apps to save battery? No thx, I like an OS that manages apps in the background and doesnt need me to fully close them.
And these are just a few points tbh...

It's usually their false statements like being first to launch something when they're not. Making a big deal out of ordinary features. Overcharging their customers & so on.
I don't think it's unfair to criticize them for such things. Not just Apple, but anyone who does these things deserve criticism. People have been criticizing Samsung for the Ultra for it's 100x zoom BS. People have criticized Huawei phones for lack of GMS, even though they can't control it.
Unfair criticism would be bashing them for no good reason. For example Lenovo is being bashed unfairly, due to their previous false advertising. Even though their current products are excellent. I hope you get my point.

[deleted post]The Escobar thing was always gonna be a scam. Even when the news came up about it, I knew right away something isn't quite right. My assumption was that they're selling stolen phones, but it turns out they're outright scamming people by the dozens, with stupid YouTubers recommending the purchase. I'll give credit to MKBHD for taking a responsible step & exposing their scam. I'm afraid it's too late though. Too many fools already got scammed.

All small news, tiny mistakes or things Apple done, is always blown up in the news and discussions shows the special nature of Apple products.
I have seen this ever since iPhone 3GS. That time, HTC HD2 was released, everyone is going for iPhone 3GS.. i was so confused.. Why in the earth you will want a 3.5 inch, no recent apps (iOS 3), phone?? Whereby HTC HD2 can do much much more? I finally drop the ball and buy iPhone 5, i never looked back.
Most people here use multiple phones, and give you their personal feedback, please take it to heart. Not all are media craze fanboys, though i admitted to troll for Apple once in a while ;)

I trust Apple to give a good phone. I don't need first untested features, just need the latest established features.
Because i use my phone for my needs. Not to brag. And coming from an iPhone 7 that still rocking.. i wouldn't give up on Apple at all.

Please just face it. Apple doesn't hop on every hype train the first time it arrives at the station. But usually they're well prepared when they finally board. They're not boasting overhyped rubbish for a quick buck and then come back with a proper solution with the next flagship. In fact, when they do something, it's so well done that others copy the new implementation (not illegal copying, more of a standardization process). 3D sensing and AR took off with Apple for example even if they weren't the first to bring those along.
