Sony Xperia Pro expected to cost $200-300 more than the vanilla Xperia 1 II

At this point like the 1mk3 is now coming out, and this will basically be the 1mk2 w/ a HDMI port. The delay on this was insane.... The new debate will be if its even worth it or will there even be any sales for this model any more because of the delay~ Cmon sony you can do better than that. They really need to update their logistics and manufacturing channels.

I don't get why so many people "only" show up to bash on Sony phones, most of the features your phones have is only because of Sony. Look it up, first commercial OLED display(TV) Sony (not Samsung in fact in the TV space they still don't offer them whilst Sony worked to mature the tech' and reintroduced them), Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Sony is a co-developer & the original reason it even exists, any CMOS camera ever (which is literally all mobile and practically all digital cameras) is based on Sony's technology, & 99/100 it's a straight up Sony sensor used on mobile phones anyway. Apple Pay/Google Pay was a feature that Sony did in the US in at least as early as 2014, slightly earlier in Japan, same goes for AR, Augmented Reality (nowadays Instagram filters). 4K This is about to be their 5th 4K screen phone, where's everyone else, still lagging.
Sony was the first company to do duel exposer pic's BTW too, first to do sRGB, & first to do HDR & BT.2020 support as well, first for universal stylist support, including using ⁿ⁰² pencil, first to do handwriting recognition(in multiple languages too), first with an air gapless screen, first with a Quantum Dot display tech'(Triluminos laser backlighting), first to do ambient noise cancellation for music, not to mention Dolby Atmos which kicks the p!$$ out of every other speaker setup out their in terms of clarity and fill. HDMI out Sony, USBOTG Sony, HDR photo Sony, SuperSlowMo Sony, fully waterproofed & dustproofed flagship Sony, front & rear glass Sony, NFC Sony, DLNA Sony, MHL Sony, AAC Sony, LDAC Sony, noise suppressed calling Sony, HD voice Sony, DS3 factory support Sony, DS4 factory support Sony, WiFi remote control Sony, FM tuner Sony, TV tuner (yes TV was offered in select markets on mobile) Sony, PS4 Remote Play (play your PlayStation from your phone) Sony, wetness detection Sony again back all the way in 2014, & now on camera AI (actual neural tech') Sony, +innumerously more features that also started forever ago and in many cases even before the ones I stated. But no one notices until it comes out on another phone, Sony innovates constantly, that's why their products cost what they cost and most of their flagships have historically sold at a loss, this includes the Xperia 1 line, while other companies cut holes in their screens or curve some glass so their phones brake easier and you have to by a new one, gimmicks like more RAM & bigger batteries are the sort of things that draw folks who don't realize any better, those sort of moves aren't as investment heavy as building fundamentally different hardware and R&D~ing new software. Apple has had smaller barrettes & less RAM in the past and would still be snappier and longer lasting than most phones so it's not about numbers it's about optimizations, Sony is the same way the only numbers that matter are real world performance and in that regard Sony's usually right on top whenever it launches, my Sony Xperia Z Ultra was literally tested/measured to be 2× the performance of the fastest Samsung at the time with the Samsung being newer IIRC. I've never had a Sony phone that felt laggy or couldn't comfortably make it thru the day in the last (almost)20 years, I can't say the same about my LGs, Samsung's or other phones.
For people who like being in total control of what their phone; is, & more importantly "is not" doing, right now(& for a long time) there hasn't been a better choice than Sony. But if you're impressed with incorrectly saturated images, loud but hollow sound, or an overly fast screen but with an underwhelmingly slow touch digitizer feel free to think your phone is somehow superior with it's trickle down Sony R&D which anything with; HDR, OLED, CMOS, & Qualcomm will be {PS that describes every phone..}
Personally the fact that my current Sony(and those of past in limited fashion) upscales in real-time all content to 4K HDR with audio quality to a higher bitrate than even CDs in many cases is reason enough for why I have the phone I have, others can feel free to pay just as much if not more and live without but I worked hard for my money and I won't settle for a subpar experience when such amazing Sony phones exist/

Pathetic battery life (compared to DSLR) of mirrorless cameras and other drawbacks keep most photographers away from them.

I don't follow "most people" I follow the meaningfull specs, and true real world reviews, then I make my decision. That's why I never bought any iPhone or Apple products even though I can afford them easily.
All my Android smartphones where and still HTC flagships and I'm finally switching to Sony Xperia One M2. HTC flagships served me so well during the last 11 years and I feel sorry the company is not doing well financially and stopped releasing new flagships, which forced me to finally switch.

Past 3 years... moreSeen the comparison on youtube, finished or not, the only thing better is colors and hdr a bit, but thats pure hw result, even unprocessed raws could do it. S20u is sharper in comparison, colors similar. Pixel size matter not if its compared to new tech, capturing with multiple exposures and stacking is way better, thats also the reason why everybody does it, just some like sony not. Weird is I hear rumors about apsc and ff quad bayer sensors, probably are just not ready.

Past 3 years exclduing Xperia 1, Sony tried to follow shiips companies with curved Edge Display and curved edges. No wonder they suck bad in perfromance too. Also it is not About MP. You must consider the sensor size, apperture, software processing etc.. This year Sony coming with biggest sensor size than Samsung and Apple. So Hardware is beast. We have to wait till it Comes out to see the Software processing.
PS: last year Xperia 1 6GB ram performed on par with 12GB Samsung and OP in Speed test. Check YouTube.

My phone is xz2p, I mean it got premium in the name, but its all. Its 19mp camera captures less detail than 12mp from mid range, that is its camera performance, camera also closes fast because of its 4K screen I guess, fp lags, it freezes, swipe control is from 3rd party and its something they could update. ...even touch when shooting is not registered sometimes. I bought it as the best device from sony, if its the best from sony, cannot say more.

Secondly, you did not Mention which phone you are using but just Bashing for no reason. Pop cameras are not the solution, notches are ugly, puncholes are ugly. I have not seen any mobile in the market with in Display camera. If taht tech is available, may be Sony might Change to that tech and not ugly design which Comes in between. Plus you are getting front end Speakers. As Music Lover, I Need this while watching movies/Videos or even Music. Samsung/Apple could be loud, I don't guve flying ducks About it. Their Speakers still face against elsewhere.
PS: Last year 6GB Sony performed onpar with 12GB Ram Samsung and OP in Speed test.

But tech moved from it to holes, pop ups to even under screen around corner, its just sony being slow, how is that being great. Specs is not everything but at least you get one or two things you want from many they come with.
Actually I'm using sony now and its laggy performance I see, hard to expect more if what I experience is even behind mid range performance. The only good thing I did encounter is people selling it cheap(guess why). Though there are things I like on sony phones, its not enough to sacrifice all other features, I mean popular features, not useless ones. I will probably soon upgade to some midrange, I mean upgrade from this flagship...

Just tell me how apart from self satisfaction by Looking at extra number in screen to Body Ratio, Is there any use?? You won't be able to watch your Video completely, it is like fly flying infornt of your eyes while watching a movie. Plus u r getting front Stereo Speakers which hits right at your face. Sony knows the best in Terms of Entertainment. Music/Display/Movies. There is Nothing in the market that beats in all 3 Segments excep Sony. I can gurantee P40 pro will come just like S20 Ultra with Gimmicks which a typical user doesn't even Need. Premium is not About gaming and having extra rams. Instead more rams means their ram Management is poor. It only adds extra price and compromises on other Features. Remember Apple/Sony used lesthan 6GB till last year yet performed onpar with 12GB OP/Samsung. It is the design, durability, build Quality and finally an all round specs. Xperia 1 II sofar succeeded the expectations on paper. Just wait till you see real life Performance. :)

I do not remember too much ram being the problem, only too little.
Every brand got some color tint, brown, pink, saturated, purple(sony), wont argue which is the best.
Binned output produce sharper images.
Do not compare raws, even mirrorless cannot do such hdr from raw like multi bayer in one shot, there is a limit to not have like highlight clipping and little noise.
Same size and tech on sensor - hi res wins, with new bayer and about 10x resolution -...
High refresh rate matters, thats why it is used in every screen specs, few people not seeing difference is another problem(not capable or do not care).
AF using dual pixel is so last gen, new is omnidirectional one, eye af can do anyone, not just sony, its just small sw tweak(maybe applause for being first).
Wasn't talking about crappy 100x but better 10-20x and comparable 2-3x to main camera.
Slim bezel - still a bezel, how can it compare to no bezel, in hand or pocket, awards were from happiness they at least moved from thick bezels, was hard to even look at that.
Conclusion - still lagging behind competitors, while other bring a lot of original features from sony or other brands, sony needs 2-3 years to bring them on their phone, but price is still competitive indeed.
Maybe wait few days to see P40propremium, to see what futuristic cool flagship should look like, maybe you will even see some copied features, from 1II which is still in production, on your table even sooner than from sony.
Feel free to like 1II, but cannot deny that.
