Is this the first phone with the "pro" in its name that is clearly targetting professional use and not just beefed up specs compared to the base model?

Sony is always up with something different though not mass appealing but different

Can't wait for this to come out! I love the design and specs. Hopefully the battery is enough of an upgrade

Flgshp2020, 16 Mar 2020More bulky overpriced phone limited by image processing inf... moreDon't worry, this one won't have focusing issues when recording videos, which, unfortunately, I can't say the same for Samsung's top end flagship this year :(((

1, 16 Mar 2020Xperia 1 II is already way too expensiveAt least you're not missing out anything from it. Yes, you even get a headphone jack for goodsake!
For $1200, the S20 Ultra doesn't even have a 4K HDR display, and its main camera cannot focus well. This one has that, and doesn't have focusing issues, and is for $100 less.
Still gonna praise that overpriced worthless failure from Samsung??

Dometalican, 16 Mar 2020$1,500 for this in the US? Oof... They better throw in some... moreIt is not even stated already if this will be available to everybody or just to media companies.

Cameras like DSLR and Mirrorless use LCD screen that are not even HD to preserve battery. Cameras like Sony A9, Nikon Z7 , Canon Eos R and Panasonic S1R dont even have 2100mAh battery.

This main idea of this phone is to be used as monitor/5G transmitter.

Dometalican, 16 Mar 2020$1,500 for this in the US? Oof... They better throw in some... moreYou have no Problem with S20 Ultra Price?? Gimmicky 108MP and 16GB useless ram?? But Oof for HDMI and instant boradcasting. Typical americans

Some of the keyfeatures which u dont find in Samsung:

              -4K HDR Display
              - 4k HDR recording at 60fps & 2k recoridng at 120fps
              - God tier 20 fps AF/AE with Eye AF
              - Legendary Zeiss lens
              - 21:9 display
              - Sexy design without ugly notches and punchholes (+ fits good in one hand)
              - Fast processor unlike lousy exynos (SD by samsung is only released in USA)
              - dual front end speakers
              - 360 degree audio function
              -Photo pro & Cinema Pro
              - Camera shutter button

Key fetaures compared to last year Xperia:
              - 8GB ram
              - Wireless charging
              - Headphones jack + no audio losses like in BT
              - Motionblur reduction (90Hz equivalent)
              - 4000mah
              - power button as fingerprint scanner

People have no problem with shitty image quality and shitty auto focus along with gimmicky 100x zooms and 108MP with pixelbinning and easily pay for 1500$
But when sony releases something unique and fast performing product comparitvely at 1200$, people complain.

PS: Last year 6GB Xperia and iPhone performed onpar with 12GB ram samsung and OnePlus in speed test. This also proves how crap Samsung and OP ram management is. Anything over 8GB ram is nonsense (even with 3 chrome tabs open). Over 12Gb is stupidity and where Mr.Silly lives

$1,500 for this in the US? Oof... They better throw in some REALLY good pre-order bonuses like headsets, wireless charging pads, fastest charging brick out of the box, and mini to HDMI cable. Otherwise, only people that owe ZERO to credit cards will get this.

More bulky overpriced phone limited by image processing inferior to Galaxy, Huawei, iPhone.

The major recurring problem with Sony is they don't release the phones as soon as they announce it or even 2 weeks after announcement.

They delay until the Specs are almost half old, meanwhile other brands just make them available immediately.

Then they still insist on a asking price same as when the device was first announced and other brands are getting ready for initial price cuts, making the Sony too expensive in price at release date compared to announce date.

As it is, everything is already too expensive!

                      This isn't for average consumer

" The Xperia PRO features a 360° antenna design, which covers the 4 sides of the device with 16 antenna pieces, plus beamforming technology to direct 5G mmWave signals most effectively. In addition, a low dielectric constant material enables radio waves to pass through more easily. Together, these technologies help ensure the best 5G mmWave connection, no matter how you’re holding your device or where it’s positioned."

" Designed for professionals, the Xperia PRO offers unprecedented staying power. Aided by a highly efficient internal heat distribution path, thanks to a graphite sheet, vapor chamber, and air gap, it can deliver hours of continuous 5G mmWave usage. "
