Why amoled?
My eyes loves only ips lcd

Shadocx, 19 Mar 2020I owned a Galaxy S7 Edge in the past and using a OnePlus 7 ... moreNo, it's not fake. I know because it happened to me after I purchased a ZTE Axon 7. I started to get constant headaches and my eyes felt like they were stinging a lot. It took me a few months to realise that it was my new phone that was causing the problem. After I stopped using it, the symptoms disappeared after a couple of days. If you search for 'PWM headaches' or something like that, I'm sure you'd find out all about it. It affects about 10% of users.

Depends on your usage. Took me 2 years to get a yellowish tinge, and after more than 3 years it is still barely noticable. The pixels devrease slower when you use your devices at low brightness.

Although I prefer OLED, I'm perfectly fine with LCD. Only complain is the blacks aren't black, but there are more option nowadays to achieve this without using OLED

oleds and lcd both have their pros and cons, and i can't possibly deny the fact that consumers now consider oleds to be generally better than lcds. well, for me it really depends on each and everyone's preferences. those who complain about eyestrain and headaches from using oleds are telling the truth- there are those who are sensitive to flickering that is inherent on oleds. so far, for me the only advantages of oleds are color saturation, deep blacks, and capability to have always on display. now, the reason i lean more on lcds instead is its sweeping advantage of having accurate colors in its lifetime. as i have mentioned in my other comments, oleds use organic gas for coloring each individual pixel, and therefore it degrades alot faster than the inorganic crystals in lcds. the blue pixels in oleds in particular degrade the fastest that even just after a few months the screen would have a greenish or yellowish tinge. although lcds are not that saturated and could never display true blacks, it could render other colors more accurately than oleds, and lastly it doesn't flicker so less headache inducing. i am indeed waiting for microleds myself to make it to mobile phones, microled is actually lcd that uses microleds for its backlight- localizing the backlight to each individual pixels so that it will have the best of both worlds.

What a disappointment. At this rate I don't think we'll ever see another flagship level device with an IPS display. I guess the choice is either to purchase an old flagship (notchless ones like Razer Phone 2 or Sony Xperia XZ2) or wait until MicroLED arrives in smartphones...

I mean, I obviously thought they could replace Oled themselves, but I learned about them as a backlighting option for LCD at first !

LCD itself is a really good display technology, the real problem is the light source, and miniled can fix that, and microled while enabling to have an alternative display type can still improve even further the LCD backlighting with per pixel luminosity control !
And thanks to Samsung's The Wall who use Miniled and its already functional Microled second generation :

The race for this tech is officially opened and we won't have to wait for too long !

Though personally I hope not too many Miniled LCD Smartphone get released and that we will quickly slip to Microled LCD combinaison which promise quite amazing images !
