We were also sure how P40 series would come with same-old 8MP sensors for the telephoto lens, but here were are back with the new leaks that say it will be 12MP on Pro model instead. Let's be honest here, I would be genuinely disappointed if they put dual 1/4" 8MP sensors on the Pro+ (and if it underperforms).. but now we're fairly uncertain about what sensors it will have for the zoom cameras, so there's that.

And then there's a difference in crop factor you keep ignoring for some reason. At 10x zoom, S20 Ultra will use less sensor surface area to capture the frame hence capture less light than P40 Pro+ (of course, assuming that its secondary telephoto sensor is a minimum of 1/4" in size). After taking aperture difference into account this should even out quite nicely, but I'm not convinced that it will as bad as you expect it to be.

I called you a hater because apparently to your eyes everything I say is somehow related to Huawei and I'm defending them every single occasion like a fanboy. Well, no.
First of all, there were countless times where I criticised the company for various reasons. RYYB sensor, horizon display, useless 50x digital zoom and their related advertisements, ugly FFC design, and the list goes on. Like seriously, just go read through my past comments and you'll see what I mean. Second, rooting argument was nothing to do with Huawei, I called you out on that one simply because you were spreading misinformation and there was a possibility that some people would get misled by your comments.. there's nothing more than that. You're just taking them personally and calling my arguments "excuses" because you can't handle logic, which is, again, not my problem.

Anonymous, 23 Mar 2020Taking a photo from a close object is very different story.... moreDon't be silly. You obviously don't know enough about photography to be talking here.
                          Bokeh is a factor of
                          (1) sensor size
                          (2) focal length
                          (3) aperture size
                          (4) ratio of (distance between sensor and subject) to (distance between subject and background)
The larger any of these ratios are, the better/creamier your bokeh will be. It doesn't mean there will be defocused areas.

Of course, if you don't know about photography, you will probably only know how to use 1 of the above factors, typically focal length or aperture.

                                      >>> The spec sheet is already out there. Not much you can do with a small sensor that they used on the P30 pro. No amount of image processing can fix it.

My statement is simple, that the p40 pro will be on par with S20 ultra in daytime and struggle in low light like the p30 pro (for images through telephoto sensor).
On top of that, No gcam means no way to fix the images either. On Find X2 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 10 /Note 10, Atleast we can get gcam in future to fix images in low light despite the weaker telephoto lens.

If I was a brand hater, I'd label the main and Ultrawide angle sensors as garbage as well. Did I do that? Nope, coz I know images from them are gonna be good.
You simply can't take criticism against your favorite brand and I constantly see you making excuses for the same.

You need to see and click images first hand from these phones and then compare them to small sensor smartphones. You'll have your answer.
