Shadow Snypa786, 24 Mar 2020If its an hardware limitation then why are Samsung going to... moreFirst of all, thanks for your insight. However if you read the article you just linked you can tell that this information came from Max Weinbach, a writer for XDA/leakster, and not the Samsung's official announcement. My comment was based on Anandtech's article on S20 series' battery life, so I'll believe that it will have WQHD+ 120Hz option when I see it.

The Last Oracle, 24 Mar 2020And what's the source of your rumour? https://www.anandtech.com/show/15647/samsung-galaxy-s20-ultra-snapdragon-exynos-battery-life-preview
From this review:
"While Samsung has managed to implement the 120Hz mode without any additional hardware such as additional MIPI interfaces between the SoC and the display controller IC (hence, why it’s limited to 1080p 120Hz), the actual power management and power draw when in the 120Hz mode is extremely inefficient and not very optimised."

Shadow Snypa786, 24 Mar 2020What are you talking about?
Samsung use the best display... more"To save battery"
-still gets a ridiculous 87h endurance rating despite the massive 5000mAh battery
5000 DAMN MAH!!
If they optimized the phone well enough, then 1440p@120Hz should've been available right from the very start.
After that update, the endurance rating will drop even further to 70h.
Ridiculous, because the Find X2 Pro has a MUCH SMALLER battery and still achieves an EVEN BETTER overall endurance.
You can keep that update to yourself. That update would just fry the SoC to burning 80°C.

LG V60 has poor video? Lol they are the only ones providing 8k HDR10+ complete with manual mode.

Samsung use the best displays in their devices. There will be an update soon enough where people can use 1440p and 120hz mode too. Samsung just didint include it to save battery thats all.

Ice universe (among others) on Twitter has been sharing camera samples after the update, and the improvements in both quality if image and autofocus (check his thread for other users posting samples) are extremely pronounced.

Oppo manages to enable 1440p@120Hz while still having an extremely accurate color reproduction (if you opt for the right color profile), and that is a Samsung-made AMOLED display.
Does that mean Samsung is using an inferior display for their highest end devices?

AnonD-754814, 24 Mar 2020Some people are just .....
I hope you know what DSI is.
... moreSamsung prices the Exynos variant the same as the Snapdragon variant, all whilst offering an inferior overall performance.
So we shouldn't blame the SoC for being too inferior? Then we blame Samsung for using that SoC in general instead.
Happy?

Nick Tagataka, 24 Mar 2020I happened to learn that it's actually a hardware limitatio... moreThat is possible as DSI is highly important to render better color. It's possible that Samsung ditched the 1440p@120Hz in favor of color accuracy and low power management.
Or it could be just Samsung's choice to limit it.
But the last one is the least logical.

Now we have started using next generation of sensors which are bigger and with it comes bigger depth of field challenges. When perfected it will be definitely better but as if now it is on its infancy
