If you can’t even acknowledge the level of engineering involved in their mainboard layouts, product design, and refinement of concepts, your bias is total and your words carry no weight at all.

That's why buy companies when real engineerings are needed.
They're a UI design company. They're NOT an engineering company.

The currently available 'solutions' are spatially separated coils - gaps between the charging zones. They are little more than multiple independent chargers in the same casing; trivial. If that's all Apple wanted to accomplish it could have been out for the iPhone 8 launch.

Agree that AirFuel is the way to go. Here is a link to a video supporting the application of magnetic resonance technology using Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductors.

abigfanoftechs, 24 Mar 2020Apple aren't able to simultaneously charge multiple devices... moreApple wasn't able to simultaneously charge multiple devices *placed indiscriminantly* on the mat without overheating. A few strategically placed coils and fairly well designated charging spots are all I've seen from anyone else at this point.

I think that, on the matter of wireless charging, the biggest mistake of Apple decision makers has been to select the Qi wireless standard instead of the less known Airfuel standard that natively (I insist on natively) support charging at distance (several centimeters), resiliency to different position (x,y and z) and possibility to charge several items at once.

It seems that the choice of the Airfuel wireless charging standard would have avoided all issues that Apple is low encountering with Qi wireless charging...

I think if this becomes a real product. They'll remove the ports on all future iphones to sell these. (and not just the rumored super iphone flagship)

Apple will reverse engineer working products & add to their own.
This was how Apple made their first phone - they reversed engineeded Nokia & Samsung phones.

Apple couldn't get their first charger to work, so they delayed & waited for others to come with the hard engineering solutions.

They should ignite some development in fast charging department. Smaller manufacturers are trumping big names like Apple in that department.
Nobody wants to use weak 18W charging in 2020.

Please don't give us hope. I really hoped that they would release the airpower even tho my airpods are my only gadget that can charge wirelessly.

First attempts at Airpower failed because they couldn't figure how to make sure that only Apple devices will charge on it. /s

Now they're gonna try even harder to make that only the newest Apple devices will charge on it, especially because of the rumors that future iPhones such as in 2021 will be truly wireless without any charging port. So that you have to buy the newest upcoming iPhones to use Airpower (if it gets released). /s

Anonymous, 24 Mar 2020We don't need an overengineered power mat for $999.like it would cost you any less any way :P

So if this ever becomes reality, one would be able to charge several aPple products of which I would not like to have a single one.... I can hardly wait.... O:-)
