Anonymous, 09 May 2012sigh... Mr "hardcore camera guy". You commente... moresure megapixels with adequate large sensor means a sharper bigger noise free image
As 808 sensor size is 3-4x larger than htc s3 s2 with high pixels to allow over sample all gives a great pic

Go to flickr and search for nokia 808pureview u will find raw full resolution and 5mp images

        Till then and buttom line:

More megapixels do gives a better picture in 808 , it got megspixels inside them

By the way , am typing this through my S2 ! Am not a fan boy of any brand but I adore innovation

android OEM's may use advanced hardware but the software is definitely outdated.
Nokia Belle is based the QT platform, which is a complete re-design of Symbian as you android fanboys know it. Your platform of choice, on the other hand, is built around clunky software stacks and power hungry JVM's.

Jason Mah, 09 May 20121. Most Manufacturers? Which one are u referring to? Sony ... moreI am on Nokia 701 Belle PR1 and it is very impressing. It is not symbian anymore, it is QT and I hope that Nokia take the swipe tech from Nokia N9 to Nokia Carla and new Nokia devices. Elop has already said that swipe will come to nokia devices...even for S40 cheap models..
Thinkin that Nokia is really doing a great work now.
Would love to see some more of pureview tech but in smaller content for newer models in smaller formats.

Anonymous, 09 May 2012LOL.. a Nokia fanboy telling someone else to stop being in ... more1. Most Manufacturers? Which one are u referring to?
                    Sony - 12mp.
                    HTC - 16mp.
Hence your point on "Most Manufacturers" are not valid.

                    2. To me, progress means increasing bit by bit steadily.
For Nokia to jump from 12mp to 41mp (or effectively 38mp) is a breakthrough. Or in another word "Revolutionary". Maybe you should google about the meaning of "Revolutionary" dear.

                    3. In case you do not know, Nokia PureView does increase in CPU speed from 680MHZ to 1.3GHZ and display size (3.5 inches to 4 inches) and quality (AMOLED to Clear Black AMOLED).
Nokia Belle is also a big enhancement compare to Symbian ^3.

                        1. Most manufacturer's are staying steadily in the 8 Megapixel range, this is where current market standards are.

                        2. It's called progress, maybe you Nokia fanboys should learn about it? As technology improves people expect things, especially if you're willing to pay $550-600 USD for a phone wouldn't you want the best cpu, gpu, camera?

                        3. So when Nokia excels at something it's called "revolution"? Why is it that when Nokia is dead last at increasing CPU speed, Increasing CPU cores, increasing GPU performance, increasing resolution of their display you fanboys deny it saying that "it's not needed" and these things are "marketing gimmick", yet when Nokia puts a 38Megapixel sensor onto a phone, making the phone thicker, putting a crappy screen with a shitty low resolution, and an old OS that no one cares about it's called 'revolution'?

Im still cracking up, that you're telling me im in denial.

P.S. I never made any remark on whether or not the phone itself can take great pictures, there's no denying that. Theres also no denying that the sensor is like 5x bigger than the average smartphone sensor either. Maybe next you'll tell me the Audi R8 is faster than a Honda Civic ;)

LOL at the lagdroid fanboys who come here to express their disappointment over samsung and htc's latest craptastic smartphones with a huge (LOL) 8 megapixel camera and 1/3.2" sensor. To put this into perspective, the Nokia PureView 808 has a sensor that is 4 times larger than the one found in the sgs3 and oneX.

The 808 was designed by Nokia to be the best camera phone on the market, which it is. The others (including android fanboys) can only dream.

i dont know why people feel the need to bash this phone, it is a good multi media phone which is what the average person requires. we are all not hardcore users, other phones may be better but nokia has it strong points, my N8 battery goes a full week without charge with use, do any of the droids do this?. i knew the gs2 was better than my nokia but gs3 lacks any real innovation

Galaxy beam is not unique device, An Indian Company named Spice alredy have that feature before Samsung.
The device is Spice M-9000 Popcorn projector phone which was launched in March 2011. HTC burst mode technology already present in LAVA Xolo X900 which can take 8 pics in 1 second. Nikon D 90 also have the feature before HTC. HTC turns that feature in a phone copying that ideas. But can u show a single device (except N 808)with Pureview kind of Technology, either it on Camera or Phone?? Respect the efforts of Innovation, without arguments.

HTC is also increasing their megapixel and did quite a lot of marketing for their camera department.
Sammy also are improving their camera sensors.

This tell us the weight of the camera in a smart phone.

This is certainly a revolution in camera department for Nokia to bring pureview to the table.
                                      Stop being in denial man.

Mr "hardcore camera guy". You commented earlier on page two that "as a camera guy I can tell you megapixels mean a lot!" In which I already refuted you by giving you a lesson on "pixel oversampling".

Again care to show any data that based on raw images that higher megapixels without over sampling. lossless zooming is a product of Pixel Oversampling, don't know why you nokia fanboys keep touting the two things as separate features?... Without pixel oversampling you wouldn't be able to zoom in without losing detail as that's what pixel oversampling does.
