Flashback: Huawei Ascend P6 showed promise, but had much to learn

29 March 2020
The Ascend P6 was the thinnest smartphone that was widely available, measuring just 6.18mm. Huawei was behind on some specs, however.

Phone back then with 40nm chips inside yet able to cramp in a body of 6.18mm thickness. Amazing. These day 5nm chips and super thick body with thick camera bumps.

    Fake iPhone.

I don't know why everything about phone is rounded

omg. i miss the boxy design, metal body, and the compact size. Where can we find such thing nowadays? All phones look the same, rounded glass, that gets even curvier. Even more, phones nowadays are getting bigger and heavier. p40 pro, iphone plus can easily go to 200gr+. Where is the "practicality"? Do everybody forgot that phone is an everyday companion?

I wish companies who axed the jack would bring the jack back and have it plugged just like this.

                    Looks like a Xperia copycat

It was overall a decent phone back in the days, but I still remember putting it in a case and instantly losing any and all signal strength for network connectivity.

That's a pretty neat phone for it's time. I never paid attention to Huawei until a few years ago, it just seemed like a cheap Chinese brand with poor quality products. Only once i actually got to experience a Huawei phone, i realized it's not much different than the mainstream brands.

Since that point, Huawei has constantly grown more and more, and even during their current hurdles with the US ban & all that, they're innovating & releasing some impressive devices. Kudos.
