I have its predecessor the Cosmo Communicator, (I'm typing this comment on it right now), it's a fantastic device. The keyboard is brilliant. I'm keen to see how the Linux options pan out on the Astro Slide, if Ubuntu Touch gets ported I'll definitely be getting one.

That's very good for text editing.

Features are not yet determined. They were talking about a dual cam as well. Screen has now been decided on 6.65"

YUKI93, 07 Apr 2020Oh no thanks, I'm not going to confirm your point. I myself... moreExactly! With folding phones, you don't have to 'carry' the second screens. They're embeded right in there. And it's lighter too! Specifically comparing Fold to Dual Screen attached G8X. Isn't that the whole point of folding-phone philosophy? To immediately get a bigger sized screen? Or packing a bigger screen in a smaller foot-print? Rather than having to wait to return home/office and see it on larger ones? Because for that, solutions are already there, right from laptops to projectors. The dual screen accessory mandates a sort of precognition ability on user's part about when he's likely to use the second screen. That to me, is a limitation.

Finally, let's call a spade a spade. LG released the G8X 'after' the fold. As a counter to it's home country rival samsung's offering. Not as if a light bulb suddenly turned on their management's collective head, to offer productivity based solutions to customers. And as a fold alternative, it doesn't come anywhere near that because of the big black border right in the middle. That is what I called "Clumsy, useless, and gimmicky" solution to the folding-phone problem.

By no means I'm a fan of Fold and I absolutely abhor it's fragile screen. I'd never go for it even if it was 400$, just because how scratch-prone that is. But conceptually speaking, it did accomplish what it set out to do. For which, it'll always earn points. Maybe G8X does it better for you. But then I guess we're debating different points.

Maybe that had to do with phone size itself. But independent battery might've caused weight issues. In any case it didn't happen. But I would definitely have loved to see it in reality anyway.

But unfortunately, that never came to fruition for any possible reasons. But then again, I see that mod and the keyboard was... tiny. If they made it as thick as the keyboard from the Motorola Droid 4 with embedded additional battery, that would be a hot seller.

I myself used to own a Samsung Galaxy Fold, but I'm not that impressed with the overall user ecperience. Came across the LG G8X with a DualScreen combo, immediately sold my Galaxy Fold. That is definitely the best decision that I made in my life - the ability to use two different app at the same time using proper smartphone aspect ratio without any resizing whatsoever made it an absolute no brainer.

But the best thing? I don't need to carry the second screen all the time. Try that with the Galaxy Fold!

YUKI93, 07 Apr 2020Clumsy, useless Dual Screen gimmick. Yeah, right. -> htt... moreYou do realize the guy in the picture is using an EXTERNAL bluetooth keyboard nearly 2x size of the phone's length itself? completely separate from dual screen case? when this GSMA article is about integrated ones? And the title of his post says 'Work from Home "without Laptop" ...' implying, given the choice he wouldn't resort to all this "Clumsy, useless, dual screen gimmick."

So yeah, thanks for confirming my point.

The (inner edge) hardware keyboard design looks great for grasp, the keys haptic must be better than on-screen keyword and the display screen is faceup and angles well looks very convenience and can direct use the screen like normal smartphone.

if i could afford to support this i would purely because it has a slide out qwerty board. that an the simple high mp camera and a 3.5mm jack make this the perfect phone that alas will never see the light of day.

And some of these gamers may not prefer gamepad integrated with their phones. Why'd you think all gaming phones manufacturers only offers gamepad as separated add-on accessories? Not integrated?
