Weekly poll results: the Huawei  P40 Pro and Pro+ draw in crowds, P40 barely gets noticed

05 April 2020
Now if only Huawei is allowed to install Google Mobile Services on the Pros, they will become a proper hit.

I wanted this device and used BlackBerry 10 from start to end and it's not difficult to use android apps or alternative android apps but downloading apps from google store where some apps like banking apps, travel apps in dutch and the rest I could find on amazon android store like spotify, netflix.

But reading that some apps like netflix only support 480p for a high end device with perfect camera setup with natural and good pictures could let me buy this device for a better price tag but 1000 euro and some goodies I allready have I a no go. If the P40 was around 749 I would buy it in a heart beat.

I have the same with Xiaomi mi 10 pro, i saw pictures better and natural on the mi 10 pro that is half the price here not 1000 euro but 512 euro and yes no snapdragon 665 ,wifi 6 or 5G so what. Same with the overpriced S20 Ultra for 1300 euro. I think buying a note 10+ is a better deal that camera or just the S10 that is better then the S10+ that is damaged by software.

My advice for 2020 forget wifi 6 and 5G because the hardware is not there yet there and you can also play games on 730G because all games need users. Maybe GSMarena should write something about alternatives vs new devices. Here it is :

P40(pro) 900 euro alternatives P30 pro 600 euro or cheaper honor 20 pro it;s 400 euro
S20 Ultra 1300 euro, alternatives Samsung note 10+ 849 euro or Samsung S10 600 euro
Xiaomi Mi 10 pro 1000 euro alternative Mi note 10 pro 500 euro or Mi 9 400 euro

There you have it and ofcourse some will say S10+ but S10 has better camera or what about the realme X50 and still X2 pro has at the moment better pictures. Also mi note 10 pro has similair quality pictures the colors are better and if you wanted to much red or yellow you can boost the picture always. So have a nice sunday.

Too many problems with P40 Pros:
        1) Unlike P30 Pro it's an ugly design. Goodluck hiding that black pill this time (not just wallpaper)
        2) The only phone that costs over 1200 bucks that doesn't have GMS or supports unlocked bootloader for root.
        3) The only phone over 1300 bucks that has only 1 bottom firing speaker (I wonder how your ears will adjust watching 2 hour movie on it while laying in bed).
        4) Outdated soc (old Mali g76 that will surely not help in game emulators) and only 8GB of ram which is plenty today but not if you are going to be gaming and using Huawei's new 3 screen split screen (whatever it's called).
        5) And have fun waiting till summer for it so that you will have 10x instead of 5x zoom, maybe wait for Mate 30 then as well with newer soc lol

I'm not going to complain about headphone jack because no flagships will have it anymore nor consider having 1080p in 1300 dollar phone a disadvatage since due to that big black pill you are not going to use this phone for VR anytime soon but you will be happy that this lower res screen will consume less battery.

SMH, 05 Apr 2020People are making a big deal with the GMS. SMH. Google cult... moreAnd do what without Google services? Stare at the wallpaper??
No YouTube, no play store means people have to install 3rd party playstores which, by the way, are filled with Trojans, viruses, Spyware, ransomware, crawlers etc.
What about the simple thing of updating the apps?
It's so easy to inject apks with malicious code you'd be amazed!

PS I didn't say anything about the fact that you are not allowed to root the phones.
No thanks! They're completely useless! A complete waste of resources for nothing..

Think these phones are very interesting, but find the lack of 3,5mm jack and the hole in screen to be the biggest issues. Also the lack of GMS is a good thing, and because of that and camera ability, I would consider these phones, even with the other 2 setbacks mentioned.

Clearly, the majority of the voters aren't interested in this brand at all.

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2020Well the tittle is a little... too optimistic. 40% are not ... moreI read somewhere yesterday there will come a big price drop on 4g phones.
We will see if this happens.

I have my Mate 20 X still and it's still a hell of a beast, with a really good camera to.

No 4g for me no matter price drops, my next phone will be a 5g and maybe not before next year.

Funny how 60% of voters would buy these phones but 0% will because of the Google ban

This sounds a bit ... preferential.

40% of people and the highest number of voters think they're not interested in any of the phones and still the article talks about awesomeness of Huawei phones.

Nothing's wrong with that, but for that you already have reviews. This was a poll and more focus should've been given to discussing large number of people not interested in any of 'em

NICANGEL777, 05 Apr 2020If the P40 kept the headphone jack, it would have got noticed! So true. If you won't make it cheap , save money for your consumers as much as possible and let them use what they already have without extra efforts or money.

                        Regular and compact.
Regular will be the bigger screen display (around 6.5-6.9 inches)
Compact will be with smaller screen (around 5.5-5.8 inches) and 20% smaller battery.
Keep rest of the specs same as to avoid confusion.

Upon reading this one, i feel like the one who created this one is a fan boy. The fact that some ex-employees are working in huwawei's camera division. This phones is more likely as the nokia 808 and nokia 1020 that is anroid was the one killing it but their camera is super good/superb.

If the P40 kept the headphone jack, it would have got noticed!

Well the tittle is a little... too optimistic. 40% are not interested. And a great part of the positive votes will never buy them due to its prices and certain lacks. And more this year...

If they are now, in general not only Huawei, liquidating 4G phones. Better than after that for the end of the year, instead of increasing the prices for Christmas, do just the opposite and generate large sales with big discounts for the 5G ones, including the new Mate. But something tells me that it will not be so, they will not want to lower them and their sales will be ridiculous as now happens with the S20 variants.

come one,, make 1 or max 2 flagship model for each and rest make mid ranger. if one can afford P40 then definitely he will get any top-end mid ranger with better specs to P40.

To me, it's not about lack of GMS. Lack of certain hardware cues (headphone jack, stereo speakers) turned me off of all the P40 phones. Mate 30 phones are actually better than these; save for the Periscope camera.

I'm actually semi-interested in version 2 of Nano Memory because phones like OnePlus, Oppo, Apple, Xiaomi, and Nubia that love shoving Dual SIM down our throats instead of giving us minimum hybrid dual SIM, should adopt this standard just to give us the Goddang choice. I want to know if it's faster at read/write speeds but there's nothing online about them.
