This is like when HTC released the Legend, the Hero, and then the Aria here in the USA. They are the same specs nimberswise, but it is definitely an upgrade over the previous model.
The Aria ran a hell of a lot smoother and snappier than the Hero on the same processor speed.
Don't forget that these Desire C and Wildfire S handsets are displaying on 480x320 resolution sub-3.5in. displays. It cost the SoC next to nothing to feed compared to a 4.65in. 1280x720 display.
Also, this is an entry level phone. What did you expect?
The red accents hail from back when HTC wasn't boring. Remember when under the battery cover was Imola Red or Erratic Light Yellow

This is going to be another fail attempt for HTC to capture the low end market. Why ? 600 Mhz processor ? You must be kidding, HTC !

if this phone can run ICS, why not htc explorer with almost same specs. HTC should provide ics upgrade to explorer too.

Once an OEM always and OEM, that's HTC for you. What do they care about the market place, branding, brand loyaly, after sales service and support? Nothing. As long as they're squitting out product into any channel that buys, this is their mandate and mission. When will the Desire S get ICS, never. When will the One S become generally available - as and when. So the story goes on.

the funny thing is that this will have ICS on it, while the specs are worse than the original desire, which will never have it officially

Anonymous, 13 May 2012they have to make it so it will cost them something and not... morestill they will earn on it rather than updating older devices..
and you know eventually this will sell in lower end market as people looking at entry level will prefer it..
offcourse non-entry leveler will ditch this
