So customers need to go and just ask for that and they attendant will know the model? They only have one noise-canceling TWS earbud then? Lol
And a lot of sales are gained through referrals and recommendations, few would cram those names.

Because all they need to do is go to a store and ask for "those noise cancelling Sony earbuds" and the workers will know the model.

A user would easily recommend Galaxy buds than WF-XB700, for apparent reasons—they could easily remember that.
The name of a product is important in selling the product.

Their naming scheme is really simplified, MDR is for wired headphones, WH and WF are types of wireless headphones and buds. Then comes the dash - and model name; 1000X is the flagship and M* is the generation number in this case the current one is M3 (wh-1000Xm3 and wf-1000Xm3)
So here is the lineup of four model ranges in WH/WF
1000X - flagship
H - h.ear brand midrange
XB - Extra Bass brand midrange
CH - lowend
Then comes the number which designates generation as well as performance within the range like WH-XB900N are better performing than WH-XB700. N after numbers in case of H/XB/CH stands for noise canceling. So WH-XB900N is Wireless Headphones Extra Bass 900 Noise Canceling.
Previously all of their headphones had MDR designation and then they had BT for Bluetooth, NC for noise canceling, DAC for integrated DAC, R for improved performance or something after model number. So they went on and simplified things with MDR, WH and WF

Here's an analogy:
Someone with a foreign name, name's not catchy so they have no friends.
You should care about what they can do and not their name.

Just look at the names—one needn't look far to see Sony's problems. Nothing catchy. How would those names stick easily to the memory? How difficult is it to come up with a name for a product line? Call it Walkman Buds and get on with it. Damn!

Too much money for buds... GSMarena take reviews on some budget friendly buds, out there are many excellent buds under 100, or even 50 euro.
