If you want 200MP 1/1.2" , they will make for you.
Huawei has much more budget to burn with expensive Exmor.
Sony Mobile does not.
P40 Pro barely beats P30 Pro that has 1/1.7 too.

If Sony use the best of their sensor on their Xperia then Sony can't sell their sensor well to other manufacturers because they feel "inferior" than what Xperia has.
For example, Huawei and Apple want to have the best and the latest tech on camera department, so they ordered the "exclusive" camera sensors from Sony and pay with "quite much money". Other big manufacturer such as Samsung is also order and pay that "money". Yes Samsung is also can make sensor for theirself.
Pay attention that Sony earns money from selling sensor to many manufacturers than only exclusive using on their Xperia which only has soooo small market share.

I'll wait One Plus 8 and Honor 30 Pro launch, then i finalize my alternative for P40 Pro. I'm not fans of exynos.

Great news, now it will be perfect if they don't opt for wider-than-usual 23mm equiv. lens just so that they can crop in and waste 25% of the sensor area in regular shooting mode like they did in P40 series.

Wow this is a good news....I don't care if this Phone use LTps screen or oled ...I Just love the camera on this Honor 30 series ....it will be very cheaper...&....it worth waiting for ....!!!

I really don't understand Sony. They put a 1/1.7" sensor in the Xperia 1 II when they have those huge sensors available?? Samsung and Huawei have upped their camera game this year and Sony is going to be left behind once again.
Even if Sony Semiconductors and Sony Mobile are independent companies, they still have access to insider info as they're part of the same group. Idk why they didn't put this huge 1/1.28" sensor instead. The P40 is being praised everywhere for their camera quality.

I wanna know how this new type of 48mp sensor is different from the nokia 808 pureview sensor?? Looks like the competition is almost there at least in terms of physical size of sensor. How pixel binning on 808 is different from quad bayer technology used in today's smartphones.

Correction: P40 has 50MP camera not 52MP so its likely Honor 30 has the same sensor
