The Desire C packs a bigger screen and better camera compared to the Explorer. It's coming later this month.

Android caters to everything from budget to premium priced devices and while desire c may not be as fast as it's dual n quad core cousins it gets the job done and is gud for average users and middle class people.not everybody can afford one x or gs3.

RVM, 17 May 2012U got my point. I was not fighting blindlessly against Andr... morei stick to my opinion, symbian is boring. been there, tried it.

nokia 808 sure is a nice smartphone with gigantic camera, but that's it.

        Why people love android:
        - it's open, fully customize to whatever you like.
        - huge amount of apps, even tho still behind from iphone, all the important apps are there.

why people love iOS (or rather iphone itself):
        - more apps
        - fluid experience
        - gain more popularity

symbian is soo far behind in term of apps, not even viber support symbian (yet). It is not open just like android either. It function perfectly as it is, nothing more, nothing less.

That's why, low end symbian is much better than low end android, because they function perfectly as they intended to be. low end droid? forget it, it's a disaster.

$250++ on desire C, with only 600mhz and 512mb RAM, with 480x320 screen. not only there will be only a few developer (or none), the apps compatibility is only for apps 2 years older. it is so not worth it.

I was talking about this particular device, which really is way too overpriced. Also... Symbian certainly isn't boring, if u compare devices at similar price points. For example, upcoming 808 will be one of the most interesting smartphones on the market, and the experience (with all those features it has) too.

Desire C will be not compatible with many Android apps, including modern games for example. Because of it's outdated HW and display resolution. Unlike this, 701 has regular Symbian display resolution and HW platform, so it can run basicly all Symbian Belle apps.

dreamkiller, 15 May 2012nokia 701?? lmao.. fixed focus cam and old cpu architecture... moreFunny thing is, that Desire C lacks auto-focus aswell. And actually 701 has EDoF camera, while Desire C has crappy fixed-focus camera.
                      ---
CPU architecture in 701 may be older, but interestingly, according to ARM itself, ARM9 (which is used in 701) has better battery performance than Cortex A9. Still, even newer CPU architecture won't help Desire C much, since Android ICS is very performance hungry, considering it is interpreting apps on the go. Desire C will be a lagfest comparing to 701 (after FP1 update).
                      ---
The fact u don't know the name of 701's OS, just proves u have seriously weak knowledge about smartphones. Better do something with your ICS, which is still on only like 1% of all Android handsets ? After half year ? Now, this is really a shame.

Not to mention, that Desire C lacks autofocus, so it only is some fixed-focus camera, while 701 has EDoF camera. Symbian may be "dying", but it is certainly fully smartphone OS, with wide functionality, true multitasking and good customization options. And unlike Android, it runs native apps, so it has much better battery performance, and lower requirements for HW.

There are bugs due to missing driver, limited kernel. Given some times, the bug would be gone, but the performance is not as good as gb. Htc is always stingy when releasing source code thus making devs having a hard time working on the device. I own htc amaze once and the developer section simply horrible (not because of the developers). I sold my amaze and stay with my old nexus s. Running ics with no bug but the performance is not up to gingerbread. Let's face it, ics require some extra power, 600mhz won't be good enough and the price doesn't justify anything.

Guys, there is a big difference between the 600MHz processor in the HTC Desire C and all the other 600-800MHz processor of other phones (save for the HTC Explorer, ZTE Skate KIS). The MSM7225A used by the Desire C is an ARMv7-A processor whereas the one used on the Optimus One and Galaxy Ace are both based on the MSM7227, which are just ARMv6. Plus the Desire C already has 4GB of internal memory which is already bigger than the one on the HTC Desire.
