Google planning to work with multiple OEMs for the next Nexus

16 May, 2012
Would be working with as many as five OEMs and selling the phones unlocked directly to the customers.

Tizen Takeover, 16 May 2012As long as this Nexus has an SD Card slot, I'll buy it. Tha... morefrom the looks of it only Samsung might be leaving that option available. Plus a removable battery.

That two alone trumps anything.

As long as this Nexus has an SD Card slot, I'll buy it. That was the grave mistake with the Gal Nexus and reason why I didn't buy it.

this is probably noob but would all the lines still get the updates at the same time? because if each OEM uses different hardware, wouldnt they have to tweak the updates to work with that hardware?

Well it can be "NN" (Nokia Nexus). The best combination of camera ( Carl zeies),Nokia Clear Black Display, a perfectly carved metal body. Well it can't said about multicore proccessors but Nokia being the first smartphone producer and with a huge units in its accounts will surely let no stones unturned to get its share back in the smartphone business.

And they come to Brazil with urgency, I'm tired of relying on these manufacturers and operators time to upgrade, not to mention that they always cut native functions of Android! But I hope that Google does not set aside the quality, performance and innovative hardware they usually bring! Apart from updates to all devices! anxious for them here in Brazil!

finally some good news from Google! Hopefully now end the fragmentation of Android and that it evolves so as to evolve! Thank Goolge, and fast launch these phones with various OEM's.

This is very exciting...but the downside is that many people cant afford to pay for expensive phones cash and need to take it on their phone upgrades every two years etc.

Nexus phones are notoriously expensive. Also, I for one would like to have my phone warranty backed by my network provider also. If these new nexus phones breaks down...who will repair it?

Sounds great but won't each phone have to be made to work on each network like u want one but u have to get Verizon or att or sprint something like that
