Weekly poll results: Nokia 8.3 5G's price may be a dealbreaker

12 April 2020
A flagship price and mid-range specs lead to predictable results.

AnonD-908380, 12 Apr 2020Money talks, and China has lots of it.60% chose one of the 3 p40 variants and 40% chose none (mainly due to the google services issue), so how exactly did it fail?
In this poll, only 15% are satisfied with the specs and pricing.

Personally I am using nokia 8.1 4gb variant; camera, screen, build and sound quality is great. But that's about it, phone lags, stock dialer is immensely slow, phone calling, dialing and disconnecting is slow. Finger print scanner , camera interface, slow boot-up, general laga here and there are a complete deal breaker. I am not a heavy user. Launch price was way beyond Samsung also. Nokia HMD need to rethink their strategy.

Why don't you guys report on the pine Linux phone? People are downloading different Linux distributions on it, including an open source version of Ubuntu Touch phone OS. It is the future of free market.

The price AND the stupid puke hole are the dealbreakers...
A phone with no WiFi-6 in 2020 which is supposed to be made for "5G Network of the future" is beyond stupid anyway...

And a 18W "fast charging", seriously, 18W ? I mean c'mon, even the first fast charging phone had better, this is just a bit higher than the regular USB charging speed, for example, the Sony Xperia XA charger can either charge at 9W with 5V*1.8A or at 15,3W with 9V*1.7A and 12V*1.275A
A lot of phone had around 10W before the fast charging era, meanwhile there are 60W and also 30W Wireless charging phone out there !

Its a poor feature choice on a too expensive phone with the worse display breaking trend (notch/hole).
Even at 200$/€ I would rather consider the 3 times more expensive upcoming Xiaomi Mi10 Pro (probable Occidental K30 Pro version) than this as an affordable phone.

Exactly. €500 is more reasonable with this specification

                      If there are ...
                      DC1-P3 display
The storage option is 128 GB 6 GB RAM /256 GB 8 GB RAM,
OIS on main sensor, 20 MP Telefoto with AF, 60fps video capture
32 MP selfie camera with AF, Zeiss optics
                      10W Qi wireless charging

                      €600 is acceptable for me

The screen size is a deal breaker as well.

Good to see smartphone buyers cant be taken for a ride.

wasn't this already last 2 weeks subject?

5G is not a selling point. It's impossible to maintain stable 5G connectivity. 4G just works™. HMD should try selling decent 4G phones in the 200-300$ range.

@GSMArena your words are just not true and got me angry!!! Explain what means "a reputation for timely OS updates (even on old phones)" and "but it's still doing better than most"... My Nokia 8 Sirocco is still on Android 9 Pie and it's an "old" 2-year phone but it's flagship - actually the most expensive Nokia's smartphone (700€), more than Nokia 8 (540€) and 9 Pureview (600€)... It's part of Android One project but nope... When every other flagships (even some 2-year old) got Android 10 I am still on Pie... Nokia 8 stuck with Pie forever... Sorry but Nokia ruined it's reputation for better OS support...

Huawei P40 series failed your last week poll too but GSMArena still managed to spin positive results from that P40 series embarrassment. Why no love for Nokia?

Yes, we aren't blind anymore by your rented brand. It's an OVERPRICED MEDIOCRE MID-RANGE phone. That is all.

We do not forget, we do not forgive, the next time you go to deceive others with your phones.
