Even the heirs are no different at all (1, XZ2P, XZP, and Z5P). It's like the McLaren P1 in McLaren Ultimate Series.
Meanwhile, Xperia 5 is the continuation of Sony's Vanilla flagship lineup (with some Xperia Compact DNA here) leftover from XZ2 and XZ3, and their dimensions are medium (between Compact and Premium series), with Xperia Z being the smallest and XZ3 the biggest, so it's known the vanilla was modeled in-between. This one like 720S in McLaren Super Series, while the Compact family is like McLaren Sports Series.

As an Xperia 5 owner I would really like better Xperia 5 than the huge brick 1 II.
Either way both are possible as candidates, but I do not really need my personal phone to be big, I have my 6,5" "work phone" when I need bigger screen.
We seriously need more no-compromise compact phones on market.
