OnePlus launching a mystery product tomorrow in China, could it be the OnePlus Z?

16 April 2020
Or as it was previously known - the OnePlus 8 Lite.

Anonymous, 16 Apr 2020Uhhh you should realise that Oneplus 7 was priced the same ... moreI've been using the OP3 for 4 years. I'm very glad with it, but it was 400. Now the price is almost twice, and I will never buy a OP again. I'm not paying more than 400 for a phone. Other chinese brands still offer flagship specs for that price but not oneplus. Oneplus 7 was 560 (I'm talking in €) and that's the vanilla whereas you can get a xiaomi mi 9t pro (k20 pro) for 400 maybe 450.

Out of stock doesn't mean anything if it's the traditional oneplus "our fastest selling device yet" sh** OP serves us every time. My saying is based on a few friends from china telling me that OP aren't that popular in the country, so of course it's not a statistical study. But if you want statistical, xiaomi sells a lot more devices than OP (but in my opinion you can't compare).

And I'm not saying xiaomi phones are better, because they are not. But OP is too pricey.

Well I dont think so. Everyone expect the light version to be shown in July, there were no big leaks or actually not a single photo of the phone at all. No phones with Dimensity 1000 yet, so my money is on some accesory. Cant wait for the 8 lite though. I plan to buy it immidietly if everything they say is true

alera, 16 Apr 2020OnePlus doesn't sell good in China because of the price com... moreUhhh you should realise that Oneplus 7 was priced the same with Redmi K20 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 9 for the 8+256 / 6+128 configuration on launch respectively. How is that "cheaper" alternative? Sure, if you go for the less RAM/storage but that shows that they are competitive. Also Oneplus phones are usually out of stock in China on launch. I don't think you've ever actually used a Oneplus phone before, haven't you?

forget about it. it will a big phone with mediocre specs, curved glass sandwich.
only iPhone knows how to make compact device (the new SE) nowadays.

OnePlus doesn't sell good in China because of the price compare to other chinese brands so a cheaper alternative would make sense. In the rest of the world, they sell more each year despite the rising price, so it would make sense to be China exclusive, but that would be a disgusting move and it would alter their reputation. So their best move is to make it china exclusive and say "we don't know when it will come to the rest of the world because of supply", that would make a lot of people who don't want to wait and can afford it to buy the oneplus 8.

Also, seeing as the recent announcement of iphone SE an oneplus always copying apple, the announcement of the oneplus Z would make a lot of sense, especially if the product is ready. They would cut the grass under apple's foot.

Nonetheless, oneplus 8 is way too pricey for me and oneplus Z won't worth the price, except if they make it 250 or 300 which I doubt. To me oneplus is dead.

Isn't that the OnePlus 8 Lite would be a rebranded Oppo Reno3 5G iirc?
