Only other patented panel type is TN and that is bad w.r.t viewing quality even those are not used in smartphones. Anyways by generic I meant not IPS because in smartphone world if it is LCD, it is either IPS or a 'generic' TFT panel.

Additionally all the latest IPS tech patents are held by LG, so if this is not LG IPS tech then surely will be a generic TFT panel.

It is hard to find a good affordable mid-ranger not being excessively big. Pity. There must be a market wide enough for such production, but I hear more and more folks questioning current size fashion.

                                        Why use a TFT display? It's worse than an IPS display by a huge margin! TFT display should've stayed in 2013/2014
