It looks like the company isn't ready to give up on the concept.

Dang...this means the Velvet is getting a 1080p display with no high refresh rate (at least 90Hz). Oh well...on to the next phone...

AnonD-909757, 20 Apr 2020Yeah, multitasking is such a well integrated part of Androi... moreYou can literally have two apps open side by side and switching between them works flawlessly (Juan Bagnall and TK Bay have gone through dual screen use in depth), there's no need for any software optimization or whatever. Modern phones are perfectly capable of running multiple apps at the same time, it's just that there's no physical space for it.

And please don't talk about privacy while using a phone run by Google and Facebook. Nobody cares about seeing your face, it's your behavior they're after.

And that's exactly why I talked about protruding bezels, also no one prevent you from buying a case like this :
        https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QMYBHBQ
Which actually offer REAL protection from many things and will work without issue with a dual display phone.

If no one wanted it, Nubia wouldn't have done the Z20 (another iteration of a dual display phone) nor Xiaomi would bother with the Mi Mix Alpha.
If this is what it take to get rid of the notch and hole, that's a low price to pay.
Of course the real alternative is to have simply no front camera and no display on the back, but peoples will be complaining that they can't take their narcissistic selfies that was already a thing when camera without any display and films allowing only a limited number of shots were around and where a simple foldable tiny arm with a mirror can still allow both selfie and face call which are the two only reasons for those stupid front facing camera that are a huge privacy risk and destroy display and notification/statut bar...
So yeah, I'd take a dual display phone anyday over those notch/hole shits we are currently invaded with.

the story of lg and accessory love...

What the point of making phone with two screens if you can't get rid of the stupid notch/hole to have privacy and no interrupted display while there is (as this news show it) ACCESSORIES allowing to still have two displays to do the totally broken and near useless multitasking Android give you anyway? Talk about stupid

Seriously, why make two displays like that rather than simply making one of each side so we can get rid of the stupid front camera(s) once and for all ?
Also it mean having a backup solution + ability to have Oled (front/main for performance and low power consumption) and LCD (on the back for quality) on the same phone so Oled and LCD lover can each get their preferred type of display, and putting 3D facial recognition sensors which can also serve to improve picture quality by gathering more informations for the AI processing.
A linear camera setup on the top like the LG V60 ThinQ (but more on top so the display can be bigger).
There are multiples ways to make it while allowing wireless charging and NFC.
With the proper bezels, if they don't choose stupid curved edges design, but rather thin side bezels who slightly protrude from the display itself, it will be quite well protected against flat drops.

But LG prefer apparently making a side by side dual display thing that can't do what a bigger display of the same side can do, have low use of two displays on a smartphone and still have a notch + a stupid GHOST NOTCH !
                  C'mon !
Why is the phone industry so stupid since few years now ?

                    if this release in U.S for half the price of LG V60 ( with dual screen / less than $500 ) & 5G support ( SD765g ) I'm IN!!!
