AlienKiss, 25 Apr 2020You're totally right. By my standards, Oppo is a 3rd hand b... morewhen those real high end brands have 60 Hz displays, auto focus issues, can't run QHD at 120 Hz, have slow wired/wireless charging, don't get OS updates for >2 years (except Apple), and are 1400$ for a brick sized phones, VFM starts to look like a real deal, right?

Note 10 plus dosent h... morethe one who test the phone is chinese thats why. what a shame to dxomark. we need companies to be establish to compete with dxomark tho so that will see the honest test. right now better show that statistics on how dxomark test the phones and how they score it. not just putting the points and thats it.

          Value for money = I can't afford a real high-end flagship from a 1 hand brand.

Stablization and zoom goes to huawei? Note 10 plus dosent have stablization at 4k 60 and it got a score of 93 for stablization and ultra gets 91i. And zoom. Huawei is way ahead at 115 and the ultra is 88. Really? Do we still trust dxomark?
also gave the autofocus a score of 97/100 lmao the main issue

Nick Tagataka, 22 Apr 2020Not surprised, with Mi 10 Pro's cameras outperforming this ... moreThey should lower the price by 600 dollars and then it would be ok.

Disappointing. The main issue may have been the fallout with Sony imaging wrt to Dual Pixel PDAF. A contrast based or non dual pixel autofocus is always way slower.

Samsung needs to rationalise prices a little and also work on ensuring that all future models have way better quality control, especially in the camera department.

Camera isn't bad, but just not the best. Samsung should focus on the camera, and ensure the quality is class leading. Pick up engineers from other companies including Computational Photography experts and Hardware experts (ISP and Sensor design).

Not bad. But Samsung can definitely do better.

NotAnOpinion, 22 Apr 2020Here's a interesting question, Nick. Why should PAYING cons... moreBecause no company is perfect and they can't make sure every single issues of a phone they release have been ironed out by the time it becomes available to general consumer? It WOULD BE ideal IF they could've made it perfect from get go, but that's not really a realistic expectation. Phones from Samsung and Apple, for example, usually come with some issues but they usually get fixed in the end - and it's a good thing that they are trying their best to deal with the bugs and minor hiccups as soon as possible through software updates.

AlienKiss, 22 Apr 2020I'm not interested in second hand brands.. Sorry. Oppo is NOT second hand brands, they produce really good phones with minimal compromises this year. If you want even better value for money go for OnePlus.

Whackcar, 22 Apr 2020To those who are wondering. Dxomark have reviewed the Exyno... moreAnd ironically, this time around Exynos 990 variant is much superiour to SD865 variant when it comes to image quality from the main camera. It's good that they tested out the former, if it had been latter the overall score could've been easily worse by 5 or 10 points.

Anonymous, 22 Apr 2020Sammy zoom a little bit worse = ~30point lesser in zoom Hu... moreProbably you should understand the fact that:
-P40 Pro's camera software is different from what most reviewers made an initial review on, so there's a strong possibility that it has got superiour colour tuning to the one people have right now.
-DxOMark's testing method measures the OVERALL zoom quality so that phones that have telephoto lenses with longer focal length won't automatically receive higher scores. Samsung probably thought putting a 48MP sensor would be enough to make S20 Ultra the best phone for zooming and fell into that trap, while Oppo, Xiaomi and Huawei successfully escaped from it by minimising the fusion artifacts in medium range zoom, putting a secondary telephoto lens or using super resolution algorithms to improve the digital zoom quality before switching to telephoto etc.

Simply put, other companies put more thoughts into and worked harder on zooming functionality than Samsung did.

Anonymous Hi-tech, 22 Apr 2020Probably ... I think the best $ 500 phonesDepends on use cases. I can see gaming ones cost around $500 for strong GPU.
However, Pixel 3a is quite good for around $300. You can pick up decent Xiaomi phones for around $250.
