Being updated to the latest OS does not always equal to the best performance, and security can still be patched/updated without updating the OS itself.
Yes, being up to date is good. But it does not mean that the old software is bad.

RejZoR, 24 Apr 2020Ppl are forgetting that just throwing high end spec HW at t... moreThat has no sense. First you talk about be able to spend 1500 euros and then that you don't want. That is the purpose of buy a phone from Android. Better hardware at lower price. If you don't like the software or the updates that is another history. You are mixing different things to justify your Apple God policy, so you're giving yourself away. Well, stay happy with your stupid resolution. We will be equally happy too at the other side.

Whackcar, 24 Apr 2020People had stopped buying iPhone 8 due to it being a 3 year... moreIt’s not only the SOC that makes it attractive. It’s also the best portrait and video camera on its category and a lot better than the iPhone 8 and the price is actually less than that of the iPhone 8. The 124 GB which is only $50 more than the base model makes it even more attractive. And they added one more gb of RAM. Plus the dual SIM card. So I can see a lot of significant changes compared to 8.

Ppl are forgetting that just throwing high end spec HW at the problem doesn't solve everything. I could easily buy a 1500€ phone if I wanted. But I don't want to because I hate stupid Android and pretty much everything around it. First it's stupid Google's "F U" privacy policy and entire way how they operate and then it's absolutely garbage software support (which is better if you take their phone but moves you even closer to shitty privacy ecosystem). You buy a stupid expensive 4 digit price gadget and then you get 2 years of updates if you're lucky. Which usually really boils down to 1 major version you already have with new device and 1 major version update. For which you'll always wait for months and just when vendor will release the coolest update, your model will get sacked from the cycle. I can't express how violently I hated that crap. It's just so incredibly infuriating and stupid. With iOS, you get almost guaranteed 5 years of updates and you get them the moment they are released. Many people, including me value that A LOT. It's a huge thing and I think Apple is well aware of it and is giving them an edge that Android will have really hard time pulling it off. Google will really have to separate core from the upper layers and they would have to provide core updates and vendors would bolt their crap on top.

iPhone SE 2020 on other hand doesn't really excel at anything, but users can rely on everything it offers. Display? It's good. Processor? It's good. Battery? It's good (for iPhone and iOS). Camera? It's good. Build and feel? It's good. Like MKBHD said, it's not gonna steal any crowns, but it's what people can always rely on and not breaking their bank while still avoiding idiocies of Android ecosystem. That's iPhone SE 2020. I know that unless Google sorts Android updating nonsense out, I'm sticking with iOS. It's just superior in this department. I'm still on iPhone XR and I love it.

Peachy001, 24 Apr 2020I think phone makers over think the need to be different. I... moreYou don't need to go bigger size to profit better the space of those big bezels without make them too thin... and offer a better and bigger display. You also don't need that huge circular capacitive fingerprint scanner, there are a lot more optimal shapes and smaller to put in a thinner bezel. But it's Apple, so forget it, 480 euros for a 4.7" display and 3-64GB is what you get, and upto 699 euros if you want the 256GB.

PartTimePhoner, 24 Apr 2020Something only apple can do. No one would go buy a SD865 po... moreI think phone makers over think the need to be different. I think more manufacturers could do this. The LG V30, that is a terrific device to hold. My Lumia 920, solid great looking device. The Lumia 1020. Be happy for any of them again, in terms of form factor. If each simply improved the battery, screen and internals, I'd have any of them. What tickles me is that Apple kept the screen size. Which, for me, makes it look poor. But, some will like the device. I'm pleased they "innovated" by not changing stuff, or going forever bigger. Hopefully the Android makers will take note.

People had stopped buying iPhone 8 due to it being a 3 year old phone. So Apple decided to re-release the same phone with a new name & just replaced the SoC to make it attractive, and now it's gonna sell like hotcakes.

Apple didn't become the first trillion dollar company just like that. They know how to do business.

Guys this is business we are talking. If apple can re launch a phone with new name and if people are buying they would do it. that's how they make money. They are a corporate not a charity. In my opinion this is one of the best business moves apple or any corporate company have done in this situation.

Iphone 8 is a 649USD phone when it launched. How to make same phone with better SOC for cheap? Use most of the parts is the only way. I don't see a problem with that.

This is not innovation. This is smart thinking. This phone will sell like hot cakes. Not only apple fans buy this. Most of the kids old people and people who don't care about specs but a reliable phone will see this as a only option on their budget.

So apple done it again. They shows us why they are trillion dollar company. They are smart.

But i dont like the edge model for the screen going over edge. Like i dont like any type of notch or holes in the screen. But i want to get a compact phone that will be at most 140mm tall. Sadly every phone now is 6.3-7 inch screen that are something 160-170mm tall and not pocket friendly
