Just read this news, bloody hell,,Elop puts his boots in with his 2011 burning platform and kills Symbian which he should NOT have done till W7 was established..Then kills Maemo as such then kills Meego Harmattan with just one device now he has effectivly buggered the sales of the 808..The blokes a flipping baffoon..

That said i am still getting an 808. Symbian will not die overnight and just because this news has happened it does not mean the device in your pocket will suddenly stop working.

I can't believe that, it's so stupid to ignore such a big population of Symbian users. They should consider at least keeping the OS as backup plan if windows fails, because I don't see very big income from their flagship OS.

I can't understand Android users of other OS's posting here and rejoicing. How do you benefit from this? Even if you have no intention of using these phones or the OS, having more options available on the market is always better than having fewer.

Well I was waiting for PureView but with this notice I think that I clear my mind and go for the Galaxy SIII with Android.

It's a shame that Nokia having an excelent phone a the PureView made this decition.

Nokia devices have never been bad. It's the company management that is rotten. Carla or no carla I am still buying 808 pureview. Heck I'll even buy two just for good measure. But I'm actually going to be happy to see nokia burn to ashes for doing such a deservice to loyal symbian and meego fans. As for windows, I would rather go with android

I always felt that if Nokia made 50-60 important apps according to users' requests and votes, then symbian could have survived easily... No doubt about it.

But this move is not done...
Nokia is not doing good by going against the symbian customers.

Its still a stable, safe and useful feature filled OS.
