The Wireless Power Consortium certified the phone today and included an image of the front for good measure.

Hi I recently purchased a Lg Velvet 5g smartphone.. I had not intended to buy a Lg
as I have never owned a Lg phone before.. and the Lg Velvet was priced here at $999..
Which was beyond my price range.. But when I was in the store i saw the price had been reduced to $685.. It was a very hard decision as I had only considered paying around $500 but the way the Lg Velvet feels is just beautiful.. It doesnt feel cheap or like plastic..
It feels likes a phone that a lot of love went into designing.. And I feel it achieves that purpose.. It is a classy gorgeous phone.. I realise there may be other phones with faster screens and bigger processors and even better cameras.. But nothing came close to bang for buck and quality feel.. and the nicest smartphone experience I have had..
My last phone was an upper midrange leading big brand phone that was a nice phone
but it just is not in the same league as the Vg Velvet.. even the LG Velvet name makes you think of quality.. Its a very nice phone and it does everything well.. I even like the Lg software skin its a joy to use.. The battery life is good and the OS updated to Android 11 out of the box..
My phone came with no accessories like headphones or gel case..
but there easy enough to come by...
If this is Lgs last hurrah.. the Lg velvet is a phone to be loved and remembered..
Yes i love my Lg Velvet.. Ty Lg for making a great phone...

The vacuous drivel that gets pumped on tik tok, and Snapchat is beyond me. Instagram is simply just a lifestyle ad device, where the "stars" are plentiful. Most of the apps seem to be just someone trying to flog me something. Where it is some brand, or they are just trying to get me to Many Vids or some similar skin peddler. That said, the glut of devices is continuously coming, but they don't sell in all markets. Samsung and Apple seems to be most of what I see in UK. Seen the odd Huawei, but not since the ban on Google services. Where Apple and Samsung succeed is in their release schedules for the top end. Consistently predictable, which means every 2 years, Joe or Jane Public gets a new device. The mid ranged devices are now way more capable, but for me, I want the best. I want good cameras and battery life.

I think if LG can give the velvet with right pricing strategy, then it will be the most complete and valuable mid-ranger 5G phone with Snapdragon 765G with all that features...IMHO

Best looking smartphome to date, periodt!

Anonymous, 27 Apr 2020What do you expect in a smartphone landscape that keeps spe... moreYou have absolutely nailed it with your comment, "...mass market only wanting to browse social media, take pictures with cameras to upload, call and text, and play casual non GPU heavy games?"

It appears you are the only brave one to speak the absolute truth concerning the use of smartphones by the vast majority (which applies to technology in general). Frivolous and trivial tasks, as best described by you, do not need to be entertained by a power workhorse phone. What the masses need is a 'dumbphone' as opposed to a smartphone.

The human race have survived for millennia without social media, and it mostly brings the worst out of us, as evidenced by the endless stream of garbage both in videos and commentary online, shared by the 7.7 billion of us.

Most of us only need a basic phone for calling, texting, taking pictures, and the occasional Google search. A Nokia barphone with WAP connectivity is all we really need, with an updated 3G connection perhaps, e.g., the Nokia 3310 3G barphone.

              Any phone over $100 is mostly an o v e r k i l l in terms of features.

The manufacturers in their race to build the latest and greatest phone fuels our ego and desire to have the newest available iNotch or Blandroid. We are all being seduced and duped believing we need something better and more powerful, when in reality our lives would be far more pleasant without the smartphone.

The sooner we smell the coffee in recognising this vicious cycle of society's demand placed onto us for our consumer-led growth in our economies, the happier we shall be with a less hectic, less stressful, more peaceful, more enjoyable life.

Peachy001, 27 Apr 2020I assume that's why they will not charge $1000 for it. You can bet your bottom dollar they shall, as LG clings on all hopes of a mass resurgence of interest in their new device, by having devoted faith in their celestial Lucky Goldstar.

Anonymous, 27 Apr 2020They're getting swept to the side by biased reviewers like mkbhd.Does he really suggest that their cameras are on point? I can't see it, he knows his photography. The V60 is too tall, and the cameras are meh. The rest is ok, there's just no wow factor, no reason to buy it. LG should have bought the HTC camera people, they rocked!

Not impressed due to its notch. If it had slightly bigger bezel to place the camera & then it would have been better even the popup camera would be fine. But notch/holes are pretty ugly

Serious question, what on earth is the strategy for LG. Do they even have a top end device? I hear that the G60 (not 100% on that name) has an epic battery, but the rest is low rent. What happened at LG, did they lose a ton of workers? Their camera game is floundering, and they can't seem to make a device ID even consider.
