Sony shows the Xperia 1 II camera and its Alpha-inspired features in detail

29 April 2020
Eye AF for humans and animals, 20fps continuous shooting with AE/AF enabled and a ZEISS lens with T* coating are just the tip of the iceberg.

Refer to image the Xperia 1 ii lowlight shot are better than Xperia 1, you can see the green pillar on the right side of the photo, the image quality detail is much clear, the object is a far way from the camera and can retain more detail than Xperia 1.

And speaking of eye auto focus, i really hope the af in xperia 1ii really improves during low light, since it works relatively slower during low light. Plus.. i hate it when the phone decided to just switch to main sensor and then digital zoom it during low light condition

      Advanced features to fiddle about.
      Sony why compromise
      Sony like no other's
      Sony make believe

Huawei: Bad color science, is just terrible, color aren't displayed properly because the sensor is not RGB. Raw will give you worse results and due the high pixel number the raw is also noisy and blurry bc quad-bayer.

Stock camera and auto is the way.

Pixel: Too much structural enhancement, colors are too cold and artificial, they did a good job with the Pixel 2, but somehow they screwed it up on the Pixel 3. Manual mode? Nope they just don give us full control. At least the sensor is RGB and the raw is usable on Lightroom.

Stock camera and auto is the way.

iPhone: The only problem that really bothers me is the skin tones, especially in the golden hour, people turn orange! Apart from that iOS offers more control than Android.

Huawei and Google's Pixel sucks at video. Samsung offers manual mode for video but doesn't have a good picture profile and the filmic pro app is limited, iPhone doesn't record in 10bits.

Sony has a "weak" performance compared to others, sure, but now with the Xperia 1 II offers something that NO ONE else does: CONTROL.

TuGa121, 02 May 2020Sony could once enable their 120Hz on their next Xperia if ... moreHey you're the same guy who posted random false information and hate speech about X1 II product under DISQUS threads right??

"Xperia uses samsung panels one the xperia xz3 and xperia 1 and so will on this one"

According to whom?? Sony never disclosed this information in public platform. It could also be from LG. Also XZ3 is P-OLED which could be from LG and not samsung just like iPhones.

Anyway, in the end even if OLED from same manufacturers having same resolution used in two different mobile companies, OLED panels doesn't matter if your processor can't get use of the panels. Sony uses X1 chip for processing. Sony uses their own display drivers and controllers unlike samsung or any other OLED mobiles.

So saying since OLED are made by samsung doesn't mean samsung has better display. Everyone already agrees OnePlus has better display compared to Samsung though they both uses same QHD resolution panles and both manufactured by samsung.

This year they had to interpolate it with 90Hz using their Bravia method (Motion Blur Reduction method) to make sure inline with this HRR trend.

motion blur is a gimmick its not a true 90hz panel sony cant enable the 120 because they cant manage to put a bigger bat on the device come on 4000 bat on at 4k well fake 4k because its only 4k watching movies and some apps not all the time......Its all a gimmick just like the cameras 20fs Shooting lol where is the 8k ohhh i forgot sony sont offer u dont need it lol as sony fan boys say it lol so sony decided to keep the 3 year old 12mp cameras u gus rember when sony hit at samsung saying the 12mp cameras were bad they used the 19 and 21mp remember this like 3 tears ago hmmmmmm sony xperia 1 and this new one use samsung cameras wonder why .......Sony is done washed out

Just to get in here and put this to rest..........I have to agree with what the other user said 4k is a gimmick EVERYONE SAID 4K ALL THE TIME BS ANDROID STILL DONT SUPPORT 4K ON DESKTOP ON MAIN SYSTEM.......Xperia uses samsung panels one the xperia xz3 and xperia 1 and so will on this one....Now 120hz is nice i have it on my rog2 phone but actually 120hz not like sony is doing it with a app where they said its not true 90 its makes it feel like 90 thats another bs from them.....Now lets talk cameras everyone talks sony cameras are great and might be the best but the software is just garbage my brother owns just about every single sony xperia device specially the 4k devices from the z5p to the xperia 1 and i can tell u year after year the samsung devices i use like note 9 note 8 s8 s9 s10 complete demolish sony when it comes to picture quality i mean only if ur blind u cant see the difference.......and whats messed up about it the samsung used sony cameras on the notes and on the s8 s9 this is what bothers me u make the cameras and the people u sell them to have better quality like WTF sony ? Now here are my biggest issues when we buy a device u look out for ur pocket and for what the device is worth and im sorry xperia 1 ii is not worth $1200.00 euros or Dollar wherever u are in the world i can explain why.....S20 ultra is $100.00 more and it can justify the price here is why.....Sony gives u 8gb of ram 256 storage 4000 bat 3 cameras 12mp each same as last year with one new one or new tech the 20 frame per second shooter which is a upgrade +tof sensor and usf2.1 Still ufs2.1.....They are finally 5g big WOW samsung been having it for a year now remeber s10 5g is a year old the note 10 5g is about to be a year in august with samsung u get 16gb of ram 512gb internal storage 108mp+48+12+tof SHOOTS 8K and u get a 40mp in front and u get a 5000 bat u get reverse charge u get bigger screen on a true 120hz pannel u get 100x zoom which might not be all that but still there the the phone is $1400.00 can u guys see the difference sony has not given any real update that a person would need over a samsung or oneplus or p40.......Sony dont even give u 8k camera and they make it they make the 64mp 8K camera im sorry sony to me is done......The note 20 is almost here and guess what SONY STILL DIDINT RELEASE THE NEW PHONE THIS IS JUST STUPID AND TRASH WHY SHOW OFF A DEVICE IN 4 MONTHS AFTER SILL NOTHING ? Sony xperia 1 ii will be outdated in 2 months when the new note and iphone get released the note will have a in screen camera no more zit and u wont even see it anymore and even less bezles.....Sony cant even put the fingerprint scanner under screen has to be on the side which means if ur lefty ur screwed .........every one talks talks and talks yes sony was great once a long time ago not anymore........so if u pay $1200.00 for this device u must be blind when u have way better options out there like samsung the p40 the oneplus 8 there are so many options better then sony and dont forget the ROG PHONE 3 and the note 20 will bring new SD865+ as will the asus phone and the rest.....

Even on camera articles haters talk about refresh rates and 4K blah blah..they should be talking about:
Eye AF on both humans and animals
Fast focus on moving objects even in dark environment.
Or their favorite brands don't offer that??

That 600Hz is not framerate but it calls 600Hz multiframe creation.
It has 0,001ms responce time and native 60Hz game looks amazing smooth.
I saw 120Hz on S20 and its look very good but I dont believe in above 90-120Hz.

Refresh rates and resolution, what is important?? Of course it depends on target audience. You can say hey, I need FHD 120Hz and don't care about resolution. Some other people prefer cinematic display experience which obviously higher gives the sharper pixels. In the end, I would say except for gaming mobiles which require those immense amount of fps (TBH very limited games even offer those high fps), I don't see any advantages to the higher refresh rates on premium mobiles. I'm not going to play with my notification bar or scroll twitter whole day to use that 120Hz refresh rates.

Doesn't matter how fast you can charge your battery. Ultra fast charging is good only between 40-70%. Outside that range you are only molesting your battery. This is the reason why irrespective of Watts most mobiles are almost same speed upto 50% battery (in 30 min).

Also saving 10-15% battery life per cycle compared to higher 120Hz means, you will end up with prior battery death point (May be after 2-3 years these ultra fast Chinese mobiles will last barely few hours instead of 1 whole day).

Now comes the verdict, so what's worth these higher refresh rates?? Especially when you increase the size of battery like in S20 Ultra or in OP8 Pro. Thpse mobiles are too bulky and ugly. They don't even look premium like Xperia 1 II. Premium to me is first design and light weight along with versatile features. To me 4K makes more sense than 120Hz on premium mobile. For gaming mobiles, yes 144Hz is also good.
