How often niche category have product outselling biggest selling (Android) non niche product? Usually niche product is some special device aimed for very small group, is expensive and not selling much. For example galaxy z flip or galaxy fold are great example.

If product is selling tens of millions, maybe even 50 million? i canÂ’t see it as niche product, it would be very different if this SE would sell like 5 millions.

      If you put a device inside a niche category, doesnt that automatically make it a niche device?

      And If for example the niche category has one or two devices, like say for example the se 2020, even if it sells more compared to all other single android devices - doesnt that still keep it in the niche category considering youre putting all other android phones in 1 non-niche category.

      Now im even more confused with what i wrote.

              It said that all of your android companies are in competition with each other.

              You know what, fine. I'll accept.

              So the conglomerate BBK, apple, and xiaomi has more marketshare than larger than ZTE? Right?

              And the conglomerate BBK, samsung, xiaomi, and apple has more marketshare than ZTE combined?

              And apple, google, and facebook, and Tencent has more marketshare than all the android phones combined?

                Luckily for Apple this niche category still includes tens of millions of people and even better is the fact that there’s hardly any competition in this small size light compact phone market.

                  That tiny screen won't ever match up to any screen that mid range Androids offer.
                  Big screen alone transforms the user experience by a huge margin.

                  Had it been 5.5-5.8 inch screen, then it can give competition.
                  But at 4.7 inch, this automatically becomes a niche category.
                  So go ahead and cry in your fruit logo corner along with other S-h-e-e-p-s.

                    Those saying they would buy this phone for the smallscreen size:
                    Iphone SE 2020 4.7" screen (138.4mmH x 67.3mmW)
                    Samsung S10 E 5.8" screen (142.2mmH x 69.9mmW)

                    The iphone is smaller by a little more than 4mm in Height and almost 3mm in Width, but the screen in S10e is more than an inch bigger (about 27mm bigger) than the SE. THEY ARE ALMOST THE SAME overall size physically and you are saying the small screen size is the reason to buy the iphone. Wakeup people.

                    The truth is, this is apple R&D and design being lazy. Are you guys not even remotely offended that they think this old-new device will sell in 2020? Other companies are innovating their butts off trying to find new things to offer to consumers but Apple couldnt even be bothered. They could have at least updated the screen design, but no, they are banking on the fact that the sheeps will buy whatever product they spew out of their bellys. I dont even hate them for this - they have brilliant marketing and they pay the right peple to say good things about their product.

                      Doesn't matter how many companies Android has, iOS will never be the preferred OS of choice for most ppl.

The screen is small for watching videos but it does capture 4K at 60fps and 1080p at 240fps which you can edit and use it elsewhere on the device itself.
                          I have seen many android flagships struggling at video editing tasks such as cropping videos (cropping the frames, not the length).
                          The processor also helps in longevity of the device. A good processor today will be just adequate two years down the line.
                          This is one of the shortcomings we have in Android smartphones. SOC manufacturers do not support their chip-sets for more than 2-3 years which hinders longer update support.
                          Take for example SD 835. It is a good SOC built on 10nm process. It is on par in CPU and better in GPU performance than most mid-range SOCs today. Still most devices with SD835 are about to reach end of support.

This isnt gaming phone, it is daily use phone for calls and social media.

                                Pretty clear to me to draw a conclusion based upon the two statements given above:

                                The half that would buy the SE are "midgets"; the other half that would not buy the SE are giants.

                                As gloves are typically available in three sizes, small, medium, large, the iPhone SE caters for the smaller hand, or "midgets". The iPhone 11 Series are equivalent to the medium and large gloves.

                                Why do people have a problem with this basic concept of one size does not fit all ?

                                  You, like myself, may well prefer a larger display, but the iMasses prefer the smaller phone, as witnessed by the phone preference of working class on the public transport in London.

                                  You also didn't mention a positive point regarding the SE's state-of-the-art bang-up-to-date ultrafast A13 ARM SoC that is superior than any other smartphone SoC.

                                    As much as I share your sentiments, one ought to appreciate the iPhone SE is aimed at those with "such low expectations" - those attuned to Fakebook, Instagratification, Snotchat, TitTok, etc.

                                    The masses are entertained with such trivialities and as such this $399 phone would be absolutely ideal for them. They also get the bonus of getting the fastest smartphone SoC available.

                                    The SE is therefore a win-win for both Apple and the Fakebook iGeneration. In short, the current global conditions make this phone the perfect purchase for the vast frivolous majority.

                                      But for a comparable device we also need to add latest 800 series SOC, atleast UFS 3.0 (Apple uses NVMe) and IP67 Protection. This itself will add about $300 to the price($75) which now comes to $375 which is very close SE's pricing in the US.
                                      For a $100+ you can add better screen and cameras pushing the price to close to $500 which is actually the price of cheapest SD865 device in Asia. So you see, $399 is appropriate price for SE. In countries other than US, SE has an uphill battle.
                                      In India, the SE is priced same as OP8(6GB variant) at $554 and the cheapest SD 865 device is a good $90 less (iQOO 3, it even has a 3.5 mm port).
