Is it safe or fair to conclude that the message or these security flaws mentioned in this article is only harmful if you use Xiaomi's build in browser?
Or would this still be applicable if you use Chrome browser?
Also is this news also applied to for example Pocophone which is a company under the Xiaomi umbrella, but its not selling xiaomi phones tho.

I too have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 but do no use the standard browers.
I have Opera Touch, Vivaldi and Brave installed and use all three. All three has stronger than usual privacy features but the since phone processes it all I assume nothing can prevent it from sending my browsing history to whatever server it wants to.
In other words, if I don't want Xiaomi, China or the CIA to know what I do on the Internet, I'm not going to use a cel phone, am I.

everything is done upside down, I know as a user, I don't care if I have ads on my phone, why would they care what I search for to send me such ads, I personally don't like someone to put something in front of my nose if I don't want to, that is rude, if I want to go to the store to buy something, the ads first threaten the look of applications and phones, and aggressive ads of games that pop up and products that are usually of no quality, do the founders of the phone think about it

I tried to tell few of my friends about data privacy, how companies sell and use your data. but they didnt even care. they listened, some of them thought what would google do with my data? some even didnt care to listen. so I stopped telling people how this data security thingy is so important. I just try to apply it in my personal life.

N95 8GB too had GPS, tell me how navigating with privacy is living in the past?
Privacy is possible even on internet, in some degrees with hardware and software focused on privacy. The thing is, your statement seems like you have given up. Don't ever give up.
We must expose Apple and Google for what they are, even to naive people who have no idea.
Why does hardware have to remain connected to internet in entireity? There's no logic.
Being comfortable with the fact that you're being spied upon, is our defeat.
Eventually, the newer generation will not even know what privacy means, and they'll never be able to be activists against the world's problems.
We need to end this.

You can also turn off 80% of the spying by simple changes in the settings menu just like Google.

You give them everything they need, and you do that by using their services and accepting the terms and conditions... so nope, google is not a sneak a pick, more like the boss of you. Wich one is worse in the situation? Well bouth are at the same level of very bad. Xiomi, for selling cheap and making money out of you afterwords (if you want it or not). Or google that allready has your profile and does not need to take to much time with "small stuff" to analyse or take your data.

But if xiaomi is getting info like that, its highly ilegal in the EU and its a nice chance and good timing to EU get some "spare change" from china to help finances.

Chinese companies are guilty of doing this all the time. that's the risk in buying chinese OEMs. i believe it's quite harmless for average consumers. You won't get hacked or whatever. they are selling your privacy to advertisers and also improve their devices in the future.

Always knew they collect too much data, its China after all, and i bet if PPL dig around their security APP something will be found, it has a ton of suspicious permissions.
that said i love xiaomi phones, and my mi 9t pro, but also love custom roms.
no miui for me
