Nothing new, all of them do that....for now USA companies are still No1 in collecting data, leaving backdoors etc. Chinese companies are currently No2, but USA are far far more critical(eg. Intel management engine)...for now, if I must decide, I will go with Chinese companies, because analysing USA companies by other countries is strictly forbidden...

Every company spies on you under the same good old "user experience improvement" program including Xiaomi and Google.
No wonder every week, Google, Facebook and others are paying fines to the EU for data theft. Facebook was just fined 5 billion $ for privacy issues. They collected data under the same user improvement bullsh*t.
Wake up Bro, none of these companies are your friends nor do they care about your privacy.

Could you imagine by transferring all these with a simple cookie will give a backdoor to other apps as well anyone can trace these cookies.
Thats why these phones are giving you this products in less price then others by compromising your privacy and showing you ads.

Anonymous, 03 May 2020I would just LOVE to hear your opinion on Snowden, the NSA,... moreTypical... Regardless what really being done, but at least, in other countries there's a consequence and you get maybe an unauthentic apology to make one feel better, regardless how superficial it may seem. But for the CCP, it flat denial to the death, if caught with pant down... Well, what you going to do about it? Don't like it, don't use it attitude.
It just sick they're playing both the underdog and supreme power card at the same time and use whichever they please.

well, it is a Chinese company. They spy on their ruled people, why would anyone expect products not to spy on others. This has been going on since they first started manufacturing electronics, be it hardware, or software based spying. It wasn't long ago, you could buy a Chinese made flash drive for example, without a back door.

The data is unencrypted, but the connection is encrypted and secure, meaning no outsider can intercept and decrypt the data. If the data itself was encrypted and only Xiaomi has the keys to decrypt it, this news would be so much more controversial because none of us can actually see what data is being sent.

So that's why when i used huawei and xiaomi (i think all chinese brand do the same) my browser annoyingly showed adds exactly the same as the products i searched. Even for illegal stuff in my country such as porn and guns. Sometimes these adds showed in my social media too. I never had this issue on my samsung.

Samath N8 808 owner, 02 May 2020You're also the part of the problem. We've lived with inter... moreIf you want to live in the past, be my guest.
If you want to use a feature phone without any type of GPS or internet connection, be my guest.
I have no authority to tell you how to live.
What we are facing now is that almost every internet companies are trying to mine user data.
I don't mean we should just give up everything. What I meant was that we have to get real, face the problem, and deal with it.
Did you read the comments that I reply to? He/she placed a blind trust on Apple, and that ticked me off. There are just a very few companies (perhaps) that we can (maybe) trust them with privacy. But they are not those big conglomerates.
Let say, for example, FB, they even mine the data of those who don't use FB via other users' pictures. What can you do about that?
I want my privacy back, I do. And I continue to do what I can to get it back. But I will say again, you have no privacy on the internet nowadays.
