Anyone who bought the oneplus x would very well know the reasons to not buy this.

I don't think so, the Z is rumored to be between 400 and 550$, if they use the mid-range sp765 (which comes in cheaper phones) it would be crushed by the competition, the dimensity 1000 is as good as the 855+, so flagship territory.

It sound too cheap, mainly considering the high price OnePlus are now wanting to do.

You know what, I'm fine with that. I was hoping for dimensity but just being able to use gcam and staying away from oneplus image processing will itself be a big plus

I like this move, not because of custom Roms and Gcam, but the fact that with the Snapdragon I know this phone will get proper 3 years support like the 3/3T, 5/5T have gotten. With the Mediatek, I wouldn't have been so sure. Anyway with UFS 3.0 storage and 8 gigs of Ram and Oxygen OS, it will still fly.

The 765 isn't nearly as expensive as the 865 because it has an integrated modem unlike the 865. Better battery, signal and everything with the 765, including the cost.

          $400/₹25k expected for this.

I don't like this move but at the same time, if it didn't happen, this phone wouldn't get the mmWave bands that are required in the US to run on its top 3 carriers.

When Dimmensity 2000 comes out with adding those bands, we can then await that improved processor.

Apart from the UI lag of MIUI, redmi k30 pro zoom seems like a way better choice in that price range and is better in every way except the UI and you can also update the gpu driver yourself

Only if it's priced right. I'll be a deal breaker if it's priced at a level where you can just spent a few more bucks and get the 8. In India, I suppose this will go for around 30k INR. Anything about that and it's out of question.

To those of you interested in the Dimensity 1000 SoC; it is gonna be available on other phones from BBK, Xiaomi & such. So chill out!

If it uses Snapdragon 765G then it's no better than any Snapdragon 765G midrange phone out there like Poco X2, Realme X50 and 17 other phones. The chipset has the worst performance against the competition and ironically the most expensive (well maybe before the price cut). D1000L makes it stand out and this isn't even bringing D1000 into the table. Of course, this won't matter for the average consumer.

And no "snapdragon just works" comments. Because they are on the same level. Right now, if you want a flagship smartphone that isn't from huawei, samsung, or apple, it's basically automatically gonna be a snapdragon chip of some kind. If snapdragon could get some more competition, that would therefore make it pursue even faster processors and better image proccesing, making smartphone speeds and other image proccesing better.
