AnonD-754814, 05 May 2020The 2 telephoto camera definitely gives the Xiaomi an advan... moreP30 Pro uses super res zoom to maintain a good image quality up to 3x where it starts fusing outputs from the telephoto and the main camera unlike S20 Ultra that only does image fusion (and below 4x zoom it looks pretty terrible with fusion artifacts), so I guess that really hurt S20U's zoom score. I believe they see the overall quality of the photo throughout the available zoom range instead of just inspecting pure image quality from the telephoto lens.

    That's up to the software processing since the sensor's raw dynamic range is heavily affected by the pixel pitch therefore is theoretically the same on IMX568 and IMX616 in all but extreme low light condition.

    That's software processing as well.

    But that makes the main camera less suitable for the group selfie. It's unfortunate that they don't test the wide angle lens for the selfie camera, I strongly think they SHOULD include it in the protocol as well, but it is what it is.

    You should remember that you're talking to a guy who came here and posted a comment to praise SAMSUNG's selfie camera performance lol. I'm only comparing P40 Pro to Zenfone 6Z because you're the one who was bringing up those two devices in the first place. I'm happy to discuss how S20 Ultra puts up a fight against Zenfone if that's what you want.

Samsung slightly worse could get at least 105 points because the lens takes much better images than P30 pro and p30 pro got 95 for zoom.
          But giving it 88 points clearly questions about their clarity.

And again, if the software processing is not doing an enough job to properly adjust exposure, reduce red eye effect as well as to render details clearly and cancel out noise, then it won't automatically receive an extremely high mark just because it has a dedicated LED flash. Also DxOMark doesn't even test the ultra wide angle camera on a selfie camera, and slow motion? Seriously?

                    More like P40 Pro's selfie camera is "better suited" for selfie than Zenfone's main camera. Huawei compensated for 25% smaller surface with more aggressive HDR, better noise reduction & artifacts control, deeper depth of field (though this one comes naturally from smaller sensor), more optimised processing when using flash and more precise edge detection with portrait mode. It does lose out in texture which is understandable since its effective resolution is only 8MP vs Zenfone's 12MP, but in other criteria performed better. You do know that having a slightly larger sensor doesn't mean it's a better camera right? So how much more explanation do you want?

                      Not to forget the fully illuminated flash, slow motion recording, proper Ultrawide, better autofocus technology, etc.

                        DXOMARK should just rename their website to CHINAMARK because there is decidedly a bias towards Chinese brands on that website. I didn't know if from other sources, before I realized it myself. I went there thinking that hey I should really check out Dxomark cause I never did, and as I spent time there I realized that the table is titled by quite a bit. There is an infusion of Chinese brands in their top charts, and every time a Korean or US brand is compared, it is always compared against one of the Chinese handsets side by side, never US vs US brand etc. Add to that the fact that their "final" scores aren't an average of the total sub-scores and that they never quite explain how they reach that final number, and it becomes very hard to trust Dxomark and look at their methods objectively.

People distrust dxomark what I hate is when a phone they don't like gets ranked low they start lol that's true so they only trust dxo when it agrees with them?

                                Requesting the editorial team to not give much importance to DxO Mark for assessing image and video qualities of cameras.

                                        The Galaxy are generally very good in front sensor ... But DxO, take these influencers as a reference with their note algorithms completely fart that Some manufacturers have started to align their devices on that just to have the best notes and large media coverage and sell a lot.

                                        Dxomark is a shame
