It's important to remember that MediaTek chipsets don't have good GPS, and sometimes GPS is non-existent altogether (the module itself is not shipped).
If you've had a MediaTek phone, chances are you have used MobileUncle Tools or Engineering Mode to download EPO files from servers.
But guess what? Those servers are dead, so where will you get GPS EPO files now? Nowhere.
Most apps now need GPS to function correctly (Ordering, Maps etc.), so MediaTek chipset without GPS or with poor GPS with no EPO support is a big risk.
I had a phone with MT6589 which never locked GPS, and with EPO, it would lock in 30-40 minutes, but only outdoors, with poor accuracy.
MediaTek == no GPS.

@Anonymous yeah but the SD865 has a high price and stupid must-be-5G-modem-addon (765 is better there). I like that there is competition and MediaTek seems to getting better starting with the Helio G90(T) SoC. Yeah they should not cheating in benchmark tools but even Huawai did that. Imo the Dimensity 1000+ will be a good alternative in the midrange department for phones of 2020 - the Helio 90(T) is already

Isnt this great news?
I think this is excellent news.
Stay tuned... Mediatek have only just started.... The Dimensity 2000 will be launched soon. Might end up outperforming the 865... Forget your A13... It's over for the A13.

SD865 already supports 144hz @QHD+ as opposed to 1080p+ on Dimensity 1000+ chip.
