Carriers are shocking, it's just another boost for them,.so they are wanting to push it more. My carrier, EE, are notoriously expensive, and they would love to shove me onto 5G. I'm on a rolling contract at the minute, and with no phones tickling my fancy, they won't get me on a 24month contract any time soon. 5G is in some cities now, but I rarely venture even close to one. Kind hoping 5G can replace my home internet, but that is years off.

Depends on where you live. 5g is already widespread in large cities in China so many people want it there. That's why most new phones in China this year are 5g capable. Very few people there want a flagship or higher mid-range device if it's not 5g capable

Where im at, last year, 5Gwasnt reliable enough but they have greatly expanded the coverage. My gripe is that the data offerings of the local carriers are not enough to enjoy the 5G networks. Yes you can download videos so quickly but it will also eat up your monthly data cap. They should at least triple the allocation!

Is it unfair for the inventor of the idea? Maybe. Thats why we have patents to protect their interests.

Oh wait that communist country doesnt respect patents in their country and just copy the tech anyway. But rumors will always stay as rumors and telling people that a country is exploiting one company's tech to spy on people without proving anything in court is just plain bullying.

The truth of the matter is corporate espionage is happenning whether we like it or not, but it keeps companies on the edge, and it keeps them thinking of new things to offer every year.

It is so different from one company's alibi for not offering the latest tech - that the technology is just a baby and they want to offer these new tech to their buyers when it is marure enough. They used to be innovators, but now they are copying what others are doing after 2 or 3 years. Oh wait, they released the most innovative phone this year- by replacing the chip from their 3 year old handsets.

That's why tech evolution is still stagnant and innovation is hindered because the actual tech lovers with great minds are shunned away, unable to actually make a real stir in their beloved field.

Ooh, i also own an S20 Ultra. I think the tech world and its users would benefit from having each other healthily competing against each other. It sparks faster innovation

The problem is some country doesnt want to admit that they were behind the technology that theyd resort to bullying some company into slowing down their development just so they could catch up. Ahemmmmmmm.

Just the other day there was a big news about some company that sounded as if they are making the biggest innovation in tech world by putting the 5g modems in their upcoming line up. When they dont have it they said people dont need it. Go figure.

AresinUAE, 12 May 2020I would have to agree with you on this one.P40* PRO

It would have only been HUAWEI if there were no restrictions applied on their recent flagships. HUAWEI mate 30 pro and P30 pro would have easily taken the whole market space in the USA and in the EU/UK
