R.i.p. Sony. Tried Xperia 1 and 5, none of which has good low-light image. The navigation bar, why is it different, or am I not looking carefully enough?

Best solution for this would be focus on one market, like India, Bangladesh, Pakistan... They have big population, give them best for the price, with 2 years warranty and fast local service, and for sure, they will sell like 4-5 million devices at least. That is enough for stable mobile division. Same strategy have Meizu, which sell couple million devices but they have stable sales year over year.

You've got to look at it this way: what kind of people go to write comments on these videos? It's often fanboys. People who are not interested in the phone usually don't bother coming to the comment section to complain that the phone isn't to their likings - they just skip.
The reason is that Sony is a lot like LG - they just make very high quality phones with obviously high price tag, which targets very specific customers. People who prefer low quality brands like xiaomi or redmi aren't bothered by these two brands because they don't care about build quality and are just looking for good bang for the buck. Sony has no real rivalry against any other brand (in mobile phone segment, that is; xbox vs playstation is a different story) so you won't see many haters in those comment section, like under e.g. Samsung videos.

wow that is very low, i mean the big players ship more with a single model of a phone while sony as a whole sell less ... very very weak, too bad actually, I loved my XZ premium back then, they could build some quality phones but imo their marketing is just flat out bad, most consumers don't even know when sony releases a new phone

Their hardware is rather good. Their vanilla Android software needs some work. But the biggest problem is distribution and a availablity. They never had a truly global presence in sales or service. I even used the XZ2 Compact. The software was plain and I felt nothing like using a flagship phone. I went back to my Sd 435 $120 Chinese phone with skinned Android. Since nothing has worked so far, Sony might want to try their own take on an Android UI and ramp up visibility and availablity.

Sony Mobile did something correct around 2012, 2013 and 2014 and I hope they can reignite that magic in the future.
Also, instead of having 3 handsets per 6 months (6 in a year), maybe something along the lines of other brands which is numerous handsets at vigorous pricing for a year or two targeting as many consumers as possible might help it with win ground from other brands.
PS. Yes other brands are cheaper with same specs but they definitely do not come close in terms of quality. Nobody can reject that claim.

Probably because people are not interested with low-end Sony. Heck, even a friend of mine who is a Sony fanboy never even heard of the new L4.

Interestingly, look up any Xperia video on Youtube and the comments are positively packed with fans praising Sony mobiles. A vocal minority perhaps? Shill accounts?
