Thanks Facebook for ruining one of the most popular GIF platforms. Now me and many others must search for a new platform to find GIFs.

Anonymous, 18 May 2020Yep, exactly my thoughts. I need a version of the internet ... moreIt’s called BBS.
But basically, you all made those companies what they are today and you won’t want to go back. Smacks of hypocrisy.
I’m sure, one day, when the kids on here grow up and if they find themselves in a position like Giphy, they would sell. It’s called business not charity

GSMarena-isBest, 16 May 2020Seriously, it's so bad of these services to sell themselves... moreYou probably didn't notice but those companies you listed didn't really sell anything. So yes, they were making a loss. And they didn't care. Why? The idea is not to come up with profitable business, but to be considered large enough market that someone else buys your company. Let them figure out how to make money out of it while you cash out.

Instagram turned to trash after FB bought them, now you need an account for everything. FB should be stopped from acquiring more companies, they're huge enough already.

Monopoly everywhere. That's why FB is degrading their quality after buying x company. Purely not a talented company. Just because it has money, it is able to upsale its products. I see lack of innovation from fb. Each upgrade is a copycat innovation of other company. Eg see the recent Messenger Rooms. The idea comes from the infamous Zoom.

FB is loosing its respect in that sense.

Seriously, it's so bad of these services to sell themselves to these privacy disrespecting tech giants. First Instagram, then WhatsApp and now Giphy too. Were they under loss? Why they sold themselves? Why didn't they tried to prove themselves? Giphy is a different thing but WhatsApp and Instagram might have taken over Facebook making Internet a healthy place for competition.
