Are they going to refund part of people's money for removing a spec which they advertised?

Ohhhhhh the single interesting "thing" to purchase those overpriced phones deleted... XD

It must be that the neat religious called the attention of the progressives ... If there is no pact there are no votes ...

We live in the middle ages for many things and some still did not realize it !!!

People get offended by anything these days. That was no privacy issue. I've seen numerous tests online. It could barely see through anything. Definitely not a privacy issue.

Oh well. Being an Android, you can't ever truly block a feature. Should be easy to unlock it for pro users.

Zajebiss, 19 May 2020So no field day for pervs? Shame...Those perv does not have even for OnePlus, shame but it's true, at least commenting is free..
And this is made for marketing, because they don't have Samsung's or Huawei budget for promotion. Yes, i know OnePlus is Chinese (sub)brand, but they know the law in reset of the world good enough (that's why, still, there is no voice recording build in, like it was in any phone, even Google Beta app is still..), same goes for this X ray (any phone can have that), option, is not allowed by law, at least, here.

AnonD-909757, 19 May 2020Oh waw, we accidentally made an awesome feature by pushing ... moreThis conversation could be in any big smartphone company office. Literally all of them have increased prices like this which tells me it's not a move of greed but a move that is necessary to retain a growing, profitable business. You have to agree that the products are only becoming better as the price rises. Comparing the OnePlus One and its missing/downgraded features to the OnePlus 8 Pro, you can see right away that they're now building a much better product. I prefer this since I don't want to keep buying mid-range phones. A lot of people don't like spending for top-end phones.

Oh waw, we accidentally made an awesome feature by pushing an updated for the camera that we obviously haven't tested seriously...
                    Lets disable it !

*Guy in the back* Do you guys remember those days were we respected our community and we would probably have made a feature out of this on top of fixing and pushing the intended feature too ?

*Everyone stare at him and laugh...Someone say :* What are you talking about ? We never did respect our community, we were just pretending until we milked enough money out of them to finally act as the greedy capitalist we are, now that we have grown big enough to not need those geeks anymore.

If I had one, I would sue the company.

Easy tweak will unlock it back.

So no field day for pervs? Shame...

Now that it finally found its own single purpose of existence on the phone, then comes the big nerf to make it a completely useless hardware that only wastes a precious space inside the phone.

Well, as if that penetrating power is powerful enough to always be able to see hidden things inside different objects all the time (the fact that you even need to be at a very specific lighting condition, in a very certain angle at a specific distance already makes it a difficult challenge to capture the required information, and even then at best, the results aren't anything too concerning (it could only penetrate to a single thin layer of an object, and the perceived object underneath isn't completely transparent at all).

No way! Oneplus probably has the best camera right now because of this capability... Such a shame to disable it. It looks fun!
