24 May 2020
There are phones under $200 that work well enough, but the best experience is often locked up behind a $1,000+ price tag.

1000$+ if full body with underdisplay camera appears, 0$ otherwise

AndroidMaster, 26 May 2020Take away your lies about fast charging elsewhere bl*ddy casual! It's a scientific fact. Although modern charging techniques and software reduce the effect, still the more wattage phone supports, the faster battery degrades. It can be especially seen in budget phones.

Anonymous, 24 May 2020You said you wanted: "SD865, 875 or 765, 765G or 768" which... moreWell the reason is because Qualcomm make the most sophisticated SoC available on Android phones, I talk about all the AI, security and other silicon based optimisations.

The thing is, I don't really care about raw power, a middle range SoC like the SD7xx is more than enough for me, but I'd still want the latest to have the most up to date chip based algorithms.

This is why I'd pick the 765 over the 855+, the 765 is almost as powerful as the 845 (that I have with my OnePlus 6t) and it wouldn't be a noticeable downgrade but the updated chip code is worth it IMO.
Of course I'd prefer the 865 or the incoming 875, but since all the features I want have already really low chances to exist all at once (at least for now), I won't be picky if I had to get such phone with a middle ranger rather than a flagship.

Vegetaholic, 25 May 2020On hardware of course. 12 mp cameras, it is terrible, when ... moreMegapixel count is by far not the most important for the phone to shoot good photos.
Sensor size, optics, camera mechanism, image processor, post processing algorythms. Just to name a few.

Specs on paper value is irrelevant. All what matters is how a device performs in real tests.

For example two phones have UFS 2.1 memory, but perfoms faster than another.
Or battery degradatin; even when manufacturers claim that modern fast charging tech won't damage batteries, it still does, but to a lesser extense. It all depends on quality of the charger, battery and clever software.

Vegetaholic, 25 May 2020on spec list and based previous Sony models. 12 mp cameras ... moreReally, dude? You still judge a camera by the amount of pixels? No wonder that manufacturers are able to sell you a $1000 phone, which makes weaker photos than my first camera from 10 years ago, with 10 MP. Just write some high numbers on the box, and ask thousand dollars for it. Because the higher the number, the better the phone. Right?

To me, there is no reason to upgrade yearly because there is nothing at all to be excited about anymore when it comes to smartphones.
The development has more or less bottomed out. I feel the same phone is being released each year, just more prettier in design (Except for those ugly camera bumps). And whatever new tech they push out it is something one don´t need.. like 4K screens..
Exceptions are foldable phones, but price-wise they are way out of my league and salary and too immature yet for public grasp.

BliTTzZ, 25 May 2020And your opinion based on what? on spec list and based previous Sony models. 12 mp cameras can't compete with 108mp can they? 4k screen is as useful as adding a 5th wheel to the car, battery is small to the the size of the phone, you getting phone which should not be more than 600 dollars for double the price, think about it.

anyway, some people want the best, no matter the cost. some people wanna have it just because its expensive as you wont see it with everyone. its not stupidity. at the same time don't flatter yourself as smart because if you would make big amount of money, you maybe would do the same to get something expensive no matter how much that costs.

apple is a greedy company for sure. but no other companies would give you anything for free. those Chinese $hity craps stole technologies from innovative companies and thats why they sell cheapos.

Buying any phone more expensive than 800$ is just luxury and with that - to most people: nonesense. Those who own the s20 ultra or the iphone 11 pro max are usually also people with white limited sneaker-shoes, driving white SUVs in small cities (but finding nowhere to park it), thinking gucci, prada etc. are statement clothings with better quality and fair loan to thos who worked on it...I think you get it.
I don't say those phones aren't good. They are brilliant. Still, wearing a 6,9" tablet of 1400$ worth in your pocket doesn't make you any better at taking good photos - actually you most likely will still take the same crappy selfies to put them on instagram while billions of "friends" (lol) like them or make you play pubg any better - you will most likely still play candy crush saga on your phone eager to make it to the next level.

But don't get me wrong. I'm a tech person and am glad those rich-kids buy into this nonesense, so we can get the tech 2 years later at a reasonable price point. So, ye, please go on buying expensive tech, but leave us casual people pretty much alone with opinions like "the s20 ultra is best". Since you pay double, it better be twice as good as 700$ phones, but don't be surprised if it isn't even 10% better than any 800$ phone.

As for price-ranges I personally don't recommend any phone below 250$ and above 600$ (offered new, not used or on sale!) . This is exactly the best price range you can buy into. Everything cheaper will not get you a smooth experience, anything more expensive will not give you any better everyday experience. Of course if you are into foldable phones that's another story.
