I’m willing to pay 1000 + for a phone cause I have that mentality, I buy an expensive phone to keep it for 4 to 5 years and in the mean while I start to accumulate for the next one during the 4 or 5 years. At least a phone cost 1000 + will stay modern with it’s features, for example I’m waiting for the Note20 plus (coming from galaxy s6), the features of this phone will keep me up to date for the next 4 or 5 years with the 5G and the 120hz display and other more...

Done spending over $500 on phones. Currently using the A70, will stick with it for another year and then get the Galaxy A72 with the new Galaxy Buds 2 or Galaxy Bean earphones.

Flagships are superb but not everyone can pay for them and not everyone need powerful phone. Mid range phone are enough for many people. For me 700 USD is maximum and not more. Very cheap phones are useless combination of glass and plastic and slow speed.

Max 400. Thats basically what i payed for my Mi 9 SE. You get great phomes for that much money. I am not interested in flagship. My favoirite phone all time is Nexus 4.. if my phone died now i would go for android one ö redmi.

Difficult to say. I have always been into flagships (switching at a minimum 2 years). Especially Samsung ones.
In my country an iPhone (11) costs at least $800, though a Galaxy S20 also costs the same. All flagships that cost $500 above attracts a tax premium. The Oppo Find X2 and S20 Ultra price matches an iPhone 11 Pro ($1300)
The deal-breaker is that an iPhone's resale value is very strong here. XR costed sub $900 (or a bit less, perhaps) and a 2nd hand in great condition costs high $500 (nearly $600). Meanwhile, a Galaxy S10+ costed $1000 drops to only high $400s. The resale value of the Samsung is just drops way too much.
Unfortunately despite the fact Chinese flagships have increased in quality, the brand image is still not strong enough, so the population sticks to mid-range ones or a flagship Samsung or iPhone (for brand recognition).
To sum up, these days I am only confident to buy an iPhone costing $800-ish. If it has to be an Android, I'll just look into the Oppo Reno 2 or Mi Note 10. Probably Mi 10 once the price drops enough (launch price is sub $600).
Sad to say Samsungs have not been so reliable recently. I was shocked to see the iPhone 11 sell a lot despite its poor screen. Realme and Xiaomi takes the spot in here for low-end and mid-range phones. Redmi Note 8 Pro and realme 5 Pro/6/C3 are selling like hotcakes here.

I change my phone every 2 years, and always buy a 900 euros flagship. As i have the money, why buying a cheaper phone and and regretting not buying a better phone ? Last one is S20 5G, very happy with it. Compact and 120hz screen.

I voted 1000¤+ because the price isn't really relevant for me, I am looking for specific features, but it would probably make a really expensive phone, and I would pay over 1000¤ for a phone with the features I want :
*Large pop up mechanism (Vivo V17 Pro style) with camera and 3D facial recognition sensors (IR cam and floodlight, and dots projector).
*Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max FPS or any equivalent (large, 3D, ultrasonic, multiple fingers etc).
*A SD865, 875 or 765, 765G or 768 or any other recent (latest instructions and goodness) middle/high/top range SoC if possible from Qualcomm.
*A good camera configuration with OiS, telephoto with at least 3x zoom and 960fps capable.
*Always On Display (Oled or not) flat display.
*Large batterie and wireless charging.
*1m precision sat nav like : A-GPS L1 + L5, Galileo E1 + E5a, Beidou B1 + B2 and Glonass L1...
*Many other things like audio jack port (though not the most expensive thing), NFC, good enough cooling, Gorilla Glass 5 or 6, dual sim + SD, Wi-Fi 6E (ax), I wouldn't be against notification led and infrared too !
Though there are mote things I want but those are even more unlikely to be in such combo :
UV camera and floodlight for the 3D facial recognition, Iris scanning capabilities included, separated chip for handling biometrics and security preventing formatting or accessing bootloader without authentification and guarantying privacy by keeping biometrics data local, magnetic USB and Jack ports, no camera under 12MP and high enough resolution depth sensor (ToF or not), electromagnetically actuated pop up, removable battery...
For such phone I'd pay over 1000¤, but not for something without the firsts features I wrote.

It doesn't matter how much you spend on your phone. What matters is whether you're satisfied with your purchase and for how long you feel that way.
Throughout the years, I've bought a huge range of phones in various price brackets. Out of those, only selected ones truly satisfied me for a long-term.
For me, that factor defines a great phone, and i consider it worth it's price.
