Excalibur, 03 Jun 2020For me if it meant compromising other important features li... moreTrue, it such exageration. I honestly think that people that sort of nagging about it don't even buy the new flagship (they are expensive), so they kind of blame on other things.
I have once opened my xperia 1 (hich doesn't have any earphone jack and just 3300mAH battery), and i foundd that the xperia 1 could actually houses at least 3800 mAH battery with that mid-camera arrangement. This means the space inside the hone wasn't filled efficiently (a lot of 'blank' spaces as well). So what I'm saying is it's how manufacturers take advantages of the space, since earphone jack isn't really taking much space if they put it in the right place. Xperia 1ii has slightly smaller body footprint than xperia 1 yet could over so much more (bigger camera sensors, bigger battery, earphone jack)

silbier.hell, 01 Jun 2020True, it is annoying (especially when sony bring it back). ... moreFor me if it meant compromising other important features like battery capacity when adding 3.5 mm port, just forget it. Those saying not having 3.5 mm port is a deal breaker are exagerating.

I guess you haven't googled why movies are shot in 24 frames. It is fine. I'm done explaining.

Excalibur, 30 May 2020Higher frame/refresh rates is better, higher resolution is ... moreNo it is not. Do you know why films are only shot in "24 frames"??? Please google. You will find your answer why high frames are really bad.
I just explained why photographers needs 3.5mm. They need to connect external microphone while recording. Also if they wanted to charge and use headphones at same time, they need 3.5mm again or at least a dongle.
Recent wireless really have imporved compared to 3 years ago wireless. However No wireless is yet comparable to wired headphones. NONE. Especially no audiphile will tell you wireless is best.
I also mentioned even for general users/gamers, 3.5mm is important if they play games or videos on apps like YT using headphones. Wireless still have latency. Most of the times yes we don't notice in videos. But you will definitely notice while playing games.
In the end, yes 3.5mm still is useful for every user. It is something Apple intentionally forced on users. Reviewers instead of bashing them, welcomed them. SMDH. We should appreciate Sony and LG.
PS: 3.5 mm became popular because of Sony

Smithravi, 30 May 2020Well then your preferences are different from mine. For me ... moreLooks is also a preference but the slimness of a a phone for me is a con when it compromises the battery life. The looks im referring is the equal bezel measurements, no cutouts ugly notches.

Can you explain why photographers need 3.5 mm port on a smartphone?
With audiopbiles i can understand if they want to remained wired to the phone, but there are already wireless alternatives that can match the sound quality over the wired.

Excalibur, 30 May 2020Indeed watching videos and gaming with higher refresh rates... moreGaming at high refresh rates is no concern to me. But watching videos at high refresh rates means you meant to say at high frames right? That's a big no go for me. Especially from these chinese companies. No one in my circle and professionals I know ever used that high frames per second on their TV's or Monitors. Like ever. That smoothness will make your video look like "animation video" aka "fake". Even Hollywood is against such technology. Anyone who are concerned about watching movies/videos recommends it.
Instead what you should focus for watching videos is resolution (not refresh rates/frames), Colour accuracy, HDR etc.,.
3.5mm may not be deal breaker for you but people who are audiophiles and professional photographers (especially in this kind of "device aimed at them") need that into their mobiles so that they can use for the reasons I mentioned in my previous comment.
And yes Xperia 1 II is the design I love, the main and foremost reason I even considered in buying it after using same device for 4 years. Have never ever used bholes/notches in my entire life. Never will.

Smithravi, 30 May 2020Gaming, 5G and browsing at high refresh rates whole day. No... moreYes, i do agree even 10000mah cannot sustain a non stop whole day gaming 5g video streaming for now, the point im making is i wont compromise battery life over slimness...
Take xperia 1 vs rog 2 for example, id pick rog 2 anyday, i dont mind the thickness at all, i prefer overall experience.
The beauty of a phone is something subjective. Most may not mind notch and punch holes but i do.

Read again, i was exagerating with the specs i mentioned because i was making a point that not having 3.5 mm port is a deal breaker is pure bs.
I dont know about you but i completely am annoyed about notches/punch holes like with the s20 or the unsymmetrical front design, u know with the bezel chin, like the one plus. Perfect design for me is the xperia 1 ll, equal bezels and no notch.

Smartphone means portable device. Already screens and smartphones became bigger and now forcing people to have bigger, bulkier, heavier, uglier mobiles only to have everything your wanted in one mobiles doesn't make sense. Forget about premium, that's not even a practical smartphone. Better use two devices instead for different things in one. Don't rub your dream phone on Sony. There are plenty other brands which will definitely try such impractical things and fail.

Excalibur, 30 May 2020You obviously did not see what i envisioned. Ok, think of t... moreS20 ultra has everything you asked with only 5000mah yet bulkier and ugly. Op 8 pro has similar features and have only 4500mah. How do you expect removing 3.5mm will give them 6000mah?? You do remember it is not that simple to design internals to place them where they are supposed to be right?? Every smartphone sues different hardware and software. For example, Sony uses BionzX engine which you don't find in other smartphones. Like this there are many components and they design in such a way not one of them compromise other components in any way.
"Screen refresh rate is important for watching videos and gaming, so 90 hz and above is better. "- I completly doesn't agree with this. Why are you rubbing your opinion on me and others?? I don't need refresh rates for watching video. I need high resolution and accurate colours.
So you saying you don't want 3.5mm jack since you don't see not many people use wired headphones ?? You just assume right?? Lemme tell you there are people who wants no latency while watching videos and playing games. Not having 3.5mm also makes them not able to use external microphone and use a dongle for connecting to the charger at same time as well. How inconvinient for those kind of poeple. You don't want them to have an option from bunch of 1000+ similar smartphones right?? They deserve same bs you want right??
