It's an RGB logo, not the freaking torchlight being flashed into people's face.

You just jealous coz your phone probably has outdated same old boring design indistinguishable from other smartphones.

Used it in the past for a few months.
Never had so many ppl ask me "what phone is that?"

Never got anyone asking me about my phone when using a Galaxy or OnePlus or Huawei or any other brand.

I know Plenty of ppl from Corporate sector using it.
They'd rather prefer a phone with a premium high refresh rate experience & 2 day use battery than something that is begging for a charger in the afternoon.

I see a lot of "rumours" flying around different mobile sites, but Sony haven't really officially announce it. By the time they announce it, it's probably available after 6 months anyway, judging the pattern that Sony always do in the past few years.

Mate 10 pro is nice too. But I find the design to look 'cheap'. I'm not saying it's bad.. it just doesn't fit the kind of style that I want to dress myself.

Xperia 1 II is the kind of design that fits well with my daily look.

My point is, I think design is subjective to the user's personality. Even I see Samsung and Apple to be "playful". Like it fits if you have an extroverted lifestyle, where you like to go party, share photos on instagram with your friends, and generate that vibe where you like to show off your awesome phone with everyone. I believe this plays a factor in why Samsung and Apple dominates in the premium flagship segment. Because of their extroverted image, that makes extroverts so actively promoting the phone.

But I always see Sony phones to look 'elegant'. For the kind of people who prefers to sit alone in a lounge drinking a cup of coffee while reading a book. This is why you always see Sony commercials to have people wearing blazers. And this is the reason why a lot of extroverts judge Sony's design to be 'boring', ever since the Xperia Z. And introverts don't really promote Sony phones as much, which doesn't help the market share of Sony users.

Rameyuk, 27 May 2020Which is my point exactly, right? Everything actually works... moreYou missed the part where I said there were ALREADY a good price for ROG Phone II, when Sony announced the Xperia 1 II. I was ready to spend way more on Xperia 1 II. And i was ready to wait a bit.

Now let's say Sony had released the phone this week. And the moment i decided to buy it, I see the 450 € ROG Phone II deal ... I would have buy the Xperia 1 II anyway.

                So when you say:
"Besides, if price was the deciding factor, you'd still get the ROG phone anyway. From where I stand, moving the availability date doesn't give that much of an impact to you."

You are wrong. It isn't just about price, and I'm not more happy just because I got a good deal on the ROG Phone II. But I was tired of the long waiting, of the lack of informations, etc ... Actually, when I saw that gsmarena was going to review the Xperia 1 II, I almost canceled my ROG Phone II purchase ... But nah, I'm not even sure I'll be able to buy it end of july (because of stupid exlusivity, or low stock, or something else). Maybe when I'll finally be able to hold the Xperia 1 II, I will regret buying the ROG Phone II ...

Even if Sony make good phones, they should remember that they are not the only fish in the ocean. They just can't tease people with good specs / good design, and expect that everyone will just wait for them to finally release their phone.

But I have to admit that if the Xperia 5 mk II is trully a compact Xperia 1 mk II, I won't mind waiting a bit for it, and sell my ROG Phone II ... But just a bit ... not forever ...

I don't get paid for promoting Sony products at all. I don't have a marketing background, so I really don't know how to promote a product other than just saying things from my opinion. and I personally like their products.

That being said, I'm not saying that Sony is a perfect company. They have issues, sure. But mainly on Logistics and Marketing department (probably because I'm doing this without getting paid is an indicator how horrible their marketing department is). Compared to other companies who spent millions of dollars paying "independent" reviewers to promote their products and bash other brands.

Ive been using mate 10 pro for years and the fast charging doesnt seem to put a toll on the battery because the environment is cool and the phone does not heat much, fast charging is not the issue but the heat generated. If you can eliminate high temperature, then fast charging is a real benefit. Add ufs 3.1 to that and battery life will increase. Higher battery capacity is always better than lower capacity ones provided other variables like optimizations remain the same. And of course, notches and punch holes, they're a real curse for us obsessive compulsives. The best phone design i think are the mate 10 pros, rog phones, and this xperia 1 ll

If Xperia 1 II didn't get delayed, you would've spend 1,200 instead of getting that good deal on your ROG phone for 1/3 of the price. And I'm sure you're happier now. ROG phone is a really good phone.

I guess that's the difference between you and me. I was actually about to get the Xperia 1 too last year. But lack of 5G was actually the deal breaker. So I stick with my XZ1 for another year. To be honest, if the 1 II doesn't have 5G, I would've stick with my XZ1 for even another year until they release a phone with 5G. I'm used to being okay with waiting for something for so long, and I'm really good at waiting.

While I agree with you that Sony needs to get their logistics in order to deliver their phone stocks around the world at the same time as closer to their announcement as possible. But I've been trying to figure out how to achieve that. Looking at one component, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 which is their flagship chipset was only announced as late as December 2019. If they're targeting a February release on MWC. that only gives them a total of 2 months for Technical Design, Prototyping, Manufacturing, QA, Logistics, marketing and Certification processes around the world. And not to mention the need for the supply chain from the rest of their suppliers.

I don't know how Samsung does it with their S20 to be available globally just a week after MWC. The only way I can think of is to start the entire processes earlier last year. which means they need to get their chipset supplied by as early as September 2019, which allows for more room to refine the design and the other processes. But that's merely my assumption.

That being said, Sony needs to get their manufacturing and logistics in order, of course. But even in the current state, I'm not complaining. I've already decided that I'm going to get the Xperia 1 II and I'll get them when it's available at the retailers here in Australia. No matter how long I wait.

Samsung launched S20 series way earlier in the year.
Despite the Covd19 lockdowns and higher price, it still sold more than other brands.

Another example is of The Galaxy Fold which was instantly recalled after issues and relaunched back turning it into the best foldable on the market currently.
Companies like Samsung are quick to respond to market fluctuations and demands.
