Vs Post processed in Lightroom by Reddit user
        https://i.imgur.com/qsUlxbV.jpg

        This was his opinion:
"My opinion has changed after messing around with one of the photos in Lightroom. Based on what other users are saying, HDR was likely off for this shot since apparently you have to enable it in manual mode (which is ridiculous, but that's a different topic). The first photo I linked was heavily backlit and it only exposed a small portion of the scene correctly. It blew out almost everything in direct sunlight (https://i.imgur.com/6Ur8jGL.jpg), getting that information back was not possible. It still underexposed the vast majority of the tunnel as well, and the overall image quality is not great.

However, I was able to recover a significant amount of information from the shadows. I'm actually shocked at how much is still there given that it's a jpeg file from a smartphone. Very little of the underexposed area is actually pure black. It's not just the luminance data either, it actually managed to keep a good deal of color information, even towards the corners of the frame (check out the graffiti on the top right). According to the EXIF data, this was a shot with a 1/200s exposure and an ISO of 64, which is just nuts for a smartphone. I took a test shot on my Pixel at 1/200s and ISO 100 in my living room, which is on the shaded side of my house but still receiving a good amount of light from a clear blue sky, and I was not able to recover anywhere close to the amount of information I was able to get from the Xperia 1ii.

I am really, really impressed by the sensor in this thing, at least based on this one photo. That being said, Sony's processing still needs work, because most users aren't going to bother to edit their photos after the fact like this, so the "point and shoot" shots don't look like anything special. With the amount of light this sensor is capturing, I think they could probably raise the shutter speed a bit to combat the blown out highlights and still manage to have enough information in the shadows to deliver a quality photo, and I hope they update it in the future."

Underexposure under artificial yellow light will give scene orange hue, while high iso will give light yellow.

Noise can also be choice for lower noise reduction in favor of better texture.
          Not poor software.

Low noise and high level texture do not exist together for cellphones, you choose one of them.

In extreme low-light conditions (or very dark shadows in perfect light conditions) the image quality of a sensor with a lot of pixels falls apart because everything is read noise.

Only in low-light conditions with a long exposure time there can be small issues when there is a moving car. I have taken hundreds of soccer photos with HDR+ On in perfect light conditions. There was never an issue with ghosting. Though the iPhone 11 can struggle with moving objects and can produce ugly artifacts. Pixel 3a suffers from dead pixels when you zoom. I have tried multiple Pixel 3a, they all suffer from dead pixels. I have the impression that Google bought used/defect Sony sensors.

Since you brought it in, I shall indulge you. It has a red tint in all shots that you refuse to see? Its 19MP sensor is giving low-light shots with so much noise that you refuse to see?
Comparisons of outdoor shots are not objective. Light conditions change all the time. Studio comparison is the best.

                  - "Overkill 4K display" Knowing people like you, if they didn't have it you would've said "the display has a lower resolution than it's predecessor." Also no it's not overkill.
                  - "Android 10 is over half a year old" Dude what are you on right now? It's the current version of Android, as 11 is still in beta testing, and there's really nothing else to choose from in terms of a quality OS. Literally every non-Apple phone is running Android 10 right now, so it's not even an Xperia 1 II-exclusive issue.
                  - "Snapdragon 865 is over half a year old" See above. Also, that would be like me criticizing the iPhone SE 2020 for having an half-year old processor. Yes it does, but it's still the current processor, and it's still good.

If you are discussing smartphones in future, don't bring Huawei into the conversation. They will be as relevant as Blackberries today.

Samsung sells a lot of phones because it has a lot of loyal fans (though not as loyal as Apple iPhone users). That said, Samsung's insistence on using Exynos in certain markets and continued pushing of Bixby onto everyone should stop. Exynos and Bixby are inferior products than what are available (Snapdragon, Google Assistant), they add no value and do not help to boost competition.

Sony would not be more popular without 4K screen. People that buy 4K is because they like to watch things on the phone and want to enjoy 4K.

Fun is the fact z5 with much smaller 5,2" 16:9 was bashed by haters and few tech sites for not having QHD.
Now chinese brands bring phones with screen as big as 6,2" 16:9 and people say it is okay the 1080p.

If 4k was a real game changer then Sony would be competing with Samsung and their flagships but sadly its not what people seem to be wanting these days.

There is a reason Samsung is so far ahead of Sony in the smartphone race. I am not saying Sony has to copy Samsung but Sony isn't selling handsets and 4k screen doesn't seem to draw anyone to the brand except for a few people.

As I said, LG is the closest to the Xperia but it still lacks features which Xperia do.

PS: Probably LG might be closest to the Xperia colours but LG mobiles still lacks lot of other features outside camera. People are buying Xperia 1 II not just for camera of course.
It is the overall package including features like 4K HDR display, 21:9 aspect Ratio, colour accuracy and gamouts, 3.5mm, MicroSD, 360° audio, HS power control during games, front facing stereo speakers, sexy design, dedicated camera shutter button and so on. Many things people like in one mobile. It might not beperfect for everyone but it satisfied many people inlcuding me.
