Nobody talks about TCL Plex. This phone is the first TCL phone. And no one speaks about it will get Android 11. I have this phone and its soo good and fast. The TCL company should not forget this phone.

Xender, 24 May 2020nobody cares about 5 years update? We buy phone every year ... moreIt’s far more environmentally friendly to try and keep your current device running as long as possible I think , so it would be nice if the minimum update cycle was 3 years of updates , even if only quarterly.

Buying phones regularly is just wasteful unless you are gifting your other device to someone else, which is what I do.

I tried gifting my iPhone 11 Pro to my brother and he didn’t even want it :-)

Aramissss, 25 May 2020They don’t say 1 major update + 2 years of security updates... moreThat's normal for Android makers.
I'm suggesting that they should distinguish themselves from other makers.
Why not make a statement for 5 years of quarterly security updates, starting from released date.

The fact that they are getting these features in 2020 itself is the biggest Joke!
And don't forget, that joke is played on iOS users.

5 years of security updates will make you stand out from the Android crowd.
In effect, it's 3 extra years from date of release since there is usually a 2-year warranty.

nobody cares about 5 years update? We buy phone every year so we don’t need theses updates?

Hello?! Most people don’t buy newly released phone. Most of them buy 2-3 years old phone. They deserve latest updates too’

How do you know about this? Apple not tell to the world about that software.
Don't give us jokes.

I can no more trust manufactures promises of software updates. I will start believing again when they start adding penalties if they do not deliver what was promised at sale time.

TCL want to play with the Android bug boys but offering nothing new to differentiate itself.
It should promise at least Android 11, 12 & 5 years security updates.

TCL need to be the distrupter if it want to succeed!!!

Why is this an issue? People who bought this would've changed phone by the year mark anyway, making whatever promise of updates moot.

They wanna stay 5 years with crappy lcd hd display, 1800mah battery and 1 camera and pay 450$?! Go for it!
Android users get better with a 300$ phone

The 5 year update system of iOS is a giant scam. You get latest features 5 years late on an average. Android is light years ahead of iOS in terms of functionality, customizability, security and ease of use. Android from 5 years back can do things iPhone can't.

The upcoming iOS 14 will finally get an app drawer and fully functional widgets, Lol these are things that existed on Android a decade back.

Plus with every subsequent update, your battery and cpu are deliberately slowed down by Apple (Yes, they are paying fines for this malpractice) whereby one is forced to upgrade after a few years.

Lack of security patches don't affect the end user in the real world.
Ppl and several businesses used Intel chipsets for years without issues despite the Spectre & Meltdown vulnerabilities. As I said, unless a team of hackers specifically target you exploiting that security loophole, you are safe.

Ppl continue to fall for marketing gimmicks where they feel if they don't have the latest security patch, they are vulnerable or worse the phone becomes unusable after 2 years. These are the same people that can be hacked using a simple phising link and they are worried about vulnerabilities in the system that are less likely a threat.
