Nokia is going blindly in the wrong direccion. Why use S40 in lower priced phones when you could use symbian? Specs are allready there. S40 in not a smartphone OS, its problably something i would buy for my mom.
Another victory for cheap android phones and another loss for Nokia who isn't selling as it should because they killed symbian even more than their competition. Idiots!!!!

Desire C and Xperia Mini cost around 210 Euros while the most expensive piece of Asha series costs 92 Euros. So what's your point?
And Nokia shipped above 30 Million units of Asha series in Q1 2012 which is more than the total sales of lower end droids combined by HTC, Samsung and SE.

Honestly 1110 mAh battery is not good enough. The S40 is also quite monotonous and has limited ability perfomance wise.
Its not too exciting.

You clearly haven't a clue of what... moreUm, you should really go and try 100€ priced Android. It's pure awfullness in every way.
And by the way Xperia Mini costs nowadays 130€(cheapest price) and I guess when it was launched it was something else. So it don't even match the price range

1110 mAh battery!!! For a touchscreen dual sim phone? And to be realistic Symbian has litterally nothing new to offer...its very shallow.

Are you aware of the type of CPUs these Nokias are using? As if you were, the words "pumped up" would be quite funny to you to.

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2012What the hell does a 'cloud accelerated browser' mean. Lol,... moreFirst of all: The Nokia Series 40 is NOT Symbian, it is Nokia Series 40 (get it?). Second: "cloud accelerated browser" means that the web content is compressed prior to transfer, which in turn means faster load times, hence "accelerated". I don't really get these noobs, whining about thing they don't understand. If you don't like it, why even devote time for it?

Anonymous, 06 Jun 2012What the hell does a 'cloud accelerated browser' mean. Lol,... moreNokia borwser and before that Opera mini compress webpages with proxy servers by Nokia and Opera then send the pages to the user, that's what they mean by "cloud accelerated browser" the web pages looks the same but smaller in size, instead of sending a 100KB page the user get a 20KB page, that is faster and cheaper.
Symbian still alive, and Asha phones works with S40 which is a different platform, if these phones used andriod i think they will be slower and the battery life will be shorter.

What the hell does a 'cloud accelerated browser' mean. Lol, browsers cant be accelerated by internets, they are internets!
And Symbian is dead, accept it. If these systems ran Android on the other hand, they would still be useful. I ran Gingerbread on an ZTE Blade for ages and it was great, so all this talk about 1Ghz being too slow is hogwash.

Seriously, android phones with CPU slower than 1GHz is not easily useable because of the heavy OS.
On the other hand, s40 devices (Asha) have a very light OS with pumped up CPUs, which offer a much much better user experience.

Good show, Nokia!
One needs to remember that there IS still a demand for such devices (and a large one at Nokia's key geographies India and Russia).
Good phones at affordable prices.
